I agree the most significant thing here is that the media - who if it is City never let any trivial thing rest - do not seem to give a hoot any more.

Someone, somewhere must have as much doubt as many of us do that this confession is the start and end of the story. But nobody is even bothering to ask questions any more.

On Sunday when we have to protect everyone at the Etihad for an England v Turkey game (a terrorist dream fixture) if anything tiny goes wrong then there will be a government enquiry and questions in the house.

Nobody at United has been asked or has answered why something like this fake bomb could sit in a hospitality area of a place open to the public every day or in the build up to a 75,000 crowd attending for four days without anyone finding it.

That has repercussions far beyond United. For all grounds. For cinemas, entertainment complexes etc etc.

We have to find out why this happened and stop it happening again.

So why everyone is seemingly disinterested in the media because some twerp has said it was all his fault I do not know.

The fact something was there might be his fault.

The fact nobody found it was very much not his fault and is really the thing that actually matters here.

More to the point, why are the rags seemingly getting away with any responsibility whatsoever for allowing fans into a ground, presumably security swept beforehand in line with their procedures that failed to discover a suspicious package?

Yes the bloke made a fuck up and yes, its his fault it was left there but it isnt his fault or the fans there that day it wasn't found until 20 mins before kick off, presumably by a fan gong to the toilet.

Thought not. So what chance they will look into this game being abandoned. The party line is the police took the decision therefore it was beyond the Rags control BUT if they had searche the effin plave first then the game would have gone ahead, therefore it is the raggies fault. .......................................
