United (H) - League Cup SF 2nd Leg Post-Match Thread

I can’t get my head round most of this thread, it was two legged, 180 mins of football, we beat our rivals 3-2 to reach a final, why are people dissecting it down to suit their point.

I am buzzing we beat them twats, we won the tie. Bring on the same result in the chumps league in every round.
Win 1-3 in Madrid, lose 1-0 at home, happy fucking days.

Get real
I think most are assuming our team is just as competent as last season whereas for whatever reason we now lose games more frequently, we often defend carelessly and despite generating many chances to score we rarely hit the target let alone score.

For us we have season of change with Vin gone, and a few stalwarts due to retire. Some have gone backwards, others have still time to adjust and we lost for most or some of the season a game changing forward and a kingpin defender.

Plenty of reasons for our comparative form loss but we are still in the Cups with the PL title the only one beyond us so lets hope our strikers perform better to cover for our problems elsewhere.

Let's just dissect that last point for a second - we are the highest scoring team in Europe. I'm not saying we can't do better (and Wed night was a good example of that) but to paint this as some sort of goal drought is well wide of the mark.

Not denying we don't score many goals, simply that comparing the chances our style of play generates then our forwards, or those that shoot. underperform.
Certainly if our shots are on target we often score but actually hitting the target area is chronically our problem.

The next derby is at OT a week after the final. We’ve the chance to go there having won 8 out of last 9 domestic trophies and write the final script on this seasons bragging rights, assuming no FA Cup draw. With Laporte and Sane.

Just quieting down 8-) but I`m not going to Wembley. The Branch I go with go to a great pub in Ealing called the Fox and Goose. The bus for Wembley is a 3 minutes walk away and is every 10 minutes.

Getting back to the pub isn`t so easy. The buses struggle to get through because of the traffic and I`ve had to walk all or most of the 4 to 5 mile back. I had hip and muscular prob`s for 10 years. After 50 yards the pain starts so as you can imagine the walk back tests one`s resolve. 8-) CTID.

I'll have a word with Bendy Mendy - see if he can sub you a taxi back!!

You said:

"OK I was questioning why you said we rarely gave the ball away. We did it all night long, worst performance I can remember for years in that respect."

That says nothing about how bad our failed passes were.

There were a few glaringly bad passes (especially a couple that went straight into touch) when we did give the ball away but we didn't give the ball away often.

Whatever. I apologise for generalising.
Feel free to go back to your stats, you can give David Moyes a call and discuss corner counts.
