United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

I think a lot of them are absolutely knackered. They've done 4 titles in a row.

We know Pep's style requires a lot more work and concentration than other managers styles.

I just think they've out on their feet anyway and many can't get a rest because of injuries to others.

Then there is also the problem of our transfer dealings not being up to par.

But why has Pep and the club let this happen knowing it could blow up at anytime ? 100% the players were knackered in the summer and Pep and the club knew it ? 4 in a row and a treble the season and international tournaments in the summers you 100% know it's coming,

Pep ideal Squad size is a major Problem for Manchester City and should have been addressed, If City wants to fight on all fronts and have international players you are going to need a maximum of 25 first-team players.

Such a frustrating game. Penalty was a kick in the teeth, but sadly when it went to 1-1, I think we all knew what was coming.

Defensive issues and no Rodri have clearly had a huge impact, but our lack of threat from our attacking players is the big concern. We're so toothless and the stats for anyone that isn't Haaland reflects that.

Also, what is with our set pieces? They are fucking dire. End up back on the halfway or with Ederson most of the time. I know we got our goal from one, but via a deflected cross rather than a well worked routine. Would really help if we started doing the basic things right.

One positive from the match today was to turn all the crap music and entertainment off before the kick off and let the crowd build up the atmosphere - I’ve been crying out for that for years

Well done to whoever sanctioned that
I often booze at the game and get to my seat just in time for KO. Today I followed the request and got to my seat for 4.20. It was brilliant!!! Much better than the shite they pump out. The club should do this more often.

Pep Guardiola: “I don’t have a defence! I’m the manager, I have to find a solution - and I don’t find a solution! This is a big club, when you lose 8-10 games - something wrong is happening! I can say the schedule is tough, I can say injured players - but NO! I’m the boss, and I’m not good enough - it’s as simple as that! I’m not doing well, that is the truth!”

Pep tonight he doesn’t know how to fix it.

One thing I’m quite glad about is a week rest for them. Pep said they don’t have time on the training pitch to sort it, here’s your chance. A week to talk through it, analyse and kick out whoever isn’t up for the fight. A week of training and going over mistakes. It was like watching a fat cat swat at a fly today, embarrassing, but now is really the time that some strong words need to be had with certain players, players who aren’t even at that level anymore. Let’s hope we can change it and get back to winning ways.
I'm sure the same thing was said before the Spurs game but instead most had 2 weeks

Dipperpool havent won 6 out of 7 Pls, or 4 in a row PLs, or won the CL, or been in a CL semi,or won the ECC or the WCC.

That cumulative load of intense, high stress, games has overloaded the players physicaly & mentally.

They are drained to empty, then a vicious cycle of injuries, illness, loss of form, loss of confidence a perfect storm of rinse and repeat leads us to where we are now.

Shouting abuse and turning on the players should be beyond City fans, leave that to the rags.

The squad could've/should've been evolving with elite young players during the last 18 months.....strengthen and refresh when you can not when you must.

It hasnt, and therfore the same players have had to play out of position when half fit or ill only to be injured again....rinse and repeat.

Slagging the current World and English Champions off will do more harm than good, and play right into the hands of our vile detractors.

Now is the time to say nowt and keep our councel.

Fwiw.....I beleive the 'rot'
started in the week leading up to the cup final.

The hitherto most professional, hard headed and focused players of the modern era, demonstrated breathtaking complacency in believing they could win a cup final having been on the piss for days.

We lost, and the first chinks of the 'rot' had appeared .

This perfect storm hasnt blown out yet, and is going to take careful management in the comin

Why on earth would you post something that is so sensible and measured.....spot on mate, although I'm still struggling with the Haaland conundrum.

He's taking the pressure off the players.
He knows what's wrong and it will get fixed.
