I love those kinds of derbies when you can just tell that it means something to the players. They really wanted the win today, and it propelled us to the three points.
Agree with much of what has already been said here so won't repeat too much, other than Erling was sensational, Khusanov can be top tier and, although I rate Eddie as probably our best ever goalie, Donnarumma is very clearly going to gain us some points this year.
What I am struggling to come to terms with is, oddly for a Pep team, the lack of control and possession. There is not the same level of pass, pass, pass, and although some called it boring, it's a very sensible way to play when you have the best players technically, a real security blanket.
But I guess we don't have the best technical players at the moment, so we have to adapt.
I see Bernie getting a slagging off here and there, and yes it's clear he's lost something and who knows whether he'll get it back or if it's age, but the clear difference between him and Bobb, or any other winger we could have played, was his intelligence, his constant hounding, the tackles, nibbling away. Made that goal for Haaland. That's why he gets picked.
A couple of very stern tests now. Two draws doesn't sound too bad, but I'm not sure we can afford to drop points at home in any competition if we want silverware this season.
One last note on the scum. They have just got rid of Hojlund and brought in someone who seems possibly not as good, in Sesko. Maybe he needs to get up to speed, but that change to me proves that they're still flapping away behind the scenes, looking for half a clue.
I was listening to the bluemoon podcast before the game and the United fan on there was making it sound like they'd been unlucky to not have more points than they do. Well, I disagree,
I think they were fortunate against Fulham and Burnley with decisions in their favour that helped them to 4 points. They should be down there on zero with Wolves. Even with debatable decisions yet again, it will be completely down to whether Mbueno and Cunha can score enough goals to propel them higher, one of them gets injured for a spell and it could be dicey, both and they're potentially championship bound.
