United (H) Post Match Thread

Now that is a real fan. I'll be rewatching once it gets on Peacock later tonight..

I have to see what really happened. My current sense is that it was a smash and grab. But we had some issues. Even on defense a few cracks seemed to show up. :(

I'll review later.
Rookie mistake in 1st minute, gave the ball away (KDB, Cancelo in particular), no composure in front of goal. Not too much more than that from what I saw

We're all on the floor. Pep gives us the greatest football the Prem has ever seen and breaks records, but some still have a moan because 'it's cathartic'. Thankfully, the greatest coach in the world coaches us and not some catharsis seeking fan who thinks that from his living room he knows vital details that Pep doesn't. If you are a blue, and I assume you are without being certain, support your record breaking, history making team !!
Even the Scousers arnt as critical on their team & Manager as folk on here and theve lost 6 on the bounce. It really beggars belief, Theve got a bit of bragging rights for a day and a bit of fun on Facebook, I've honestly never been as less pissed off at losing a Derby, We're winning the PL again so overall they'll be hurting like fuck even though theve still won.

There’s somewhat of an imbalance with a certain selection of players. Kev is like a bow pulled back ready to let the arrow fly at any moment. His play style makes it hard for Gundo to arrive late in the box, and leaves the team open to counter due to being direct and more recently being out of form.

Bernardo’s ball retention ability and energy are very much complimentary and necessary. He can chase back, hound and press. If you shift Kev to F9, Foden and Bernardo can give the midfield much needed legs and energy even if Kev loses possession. You’d have direct play with Foden and the ‘pausa’ ability with Bernardo.

I may be talking a load of shite but either Gundy or Kev have to miss out occasionally as it doesn’t seem to work as well when they play together.

edit: missing word
I think KDB needs to play the false 9, like he did v Chelsea, for us to get the best out of him and Gundogan. He also played the role pretty well v Barcelona a while ago till Bravo had his brain fart.

The line up in that game is arguably our best (Ederson replacing Steffan of course).

Fucking hell I got the sequence of games wrong, well shoot me (or write an essay). In one of the last 4 seasons we played a significant and successful portion of the season playing a midfield 3 of Gundogan Silva and Silva. Is that fucking vague enough for you or are you going to find me and twat me with your ring binder full of facts?
You pretty much walked into it with your high-handed, wise-after-the-fact posts around who should have played in this game

Is he a good finisher or skilful winger?
He's an attacking threat who offers goals and assists. Yes he is skillful and can beat a man in tight spaces. He's not clinical and can look cumbersome at times. But he is a different string to our bow and had been one of the key reasons we have been so successful over the last few seasons.
Now I would not have started him today, I would have started Phil. But there is no way on this earth that I would be looking to replace Raheem. Yes his misses are infuriating. But no one has yet to offer a viable alternative to how we can improve on him.
He has 113 goals in 279 games for us. Can someone come up with a name for a winger who can replicate that output, is available and who we can afford? It's alright saying get rid, but who do we replace him with?

The defence is definitely looking weaker since Pep started rotating to keep people happy.

Yes it's important to keep Laporte happy, and Ake when he gets back but Pep needs to settle at some point because the longer he's rotated the 3 CBs, the weaker the defence is looking.

If we want to go to truly to the next level, i.e a serious powerhouse winning the CL every 5 years or so and making semis regularly on top of that, then we simply have to sign galactio or two to our frontline

Sanchez was very good for Barcelona, like Sterling overall for us now, but they went to next level by selling Sanchez and signing Suarez, won the treble.

City need something like this now to really break the ceiling.
