United (H) | Post Match Thread

After all that bullshit, we get to the final paragraph....for this!

Or is there something more insidious at work, a financial determinism that, by relegating football itself behind foreign-policy objectives and profit, erodes the game?

Haha. That's classic. Which is it? Foreign policy objectives or profit? Unless he is saying the UAE's foreign policy is to create wealth overseas by turning a profit on a football club? I didn't realise they were that hard-strapped for cash.

At least he didn't say "sportswashing".

The trend now, after a summer of not much player spend, is to criticise the amount City have invested in infrastructure over the last ten years. How weak is that? Good infrastructure is a bad thing apparently. These arseholes should be in government.

Even in all those years of them beating us, I don’t recall many were they have just handed us our arses consistently, the last few years been nowhere near us and if they do beat us they havent dominated at all. What a great time to be a blue.

Probably covered somewhere in this thread - so pleased for Phil but what was the “shush” celebration all about?

This was the 1st derby match I have missed watching in some form or other for 37 years. At 11am on Saturday morning at 11am my brother in law took ill and due to a 5 hour waiting list for an ambulance my wife took him into hospital. He was immediatly sent to the ICU unit and investigations began. At first they thought he had either a blocked bowel or that the bowel had even died. 11pm that night we got a phone call to say it was actually something called necrotizing faciilitis, a flesh eating disease. They had operated and were about to perform a 2nd operation to check they had got it all. 3.30am we got a call to get to the hospital asap as his lungs, kidneys & heart were failing. He did rally but eventually passed away 1.15pm. Cannot believe he was so fit & healthy Friday night, when he was out seeing a band, to being dead on Sunday.
Anyway that's my excuse for missing it
That is a truly shocking and terrible situation for you all, huge sympathy. It is sobering to think of all the blues over the years that will have missed a derby because of the plight of a loved one. Much as we love the game and City, it does put things into perspective and remind us to prioritise and treasure our nearest and dearest because they are what really count. Best wishes as you deal with your loss.
