United (H) | Post Match Thread

Just to be clear; I am neither unhappy nor disappointed about any aspect of the final score.

Wycombe Wanderers doing the double over us. That was disappointing. Oh, and the time they ran out of meat pies at Maine Road – absolutely heartbreaking…

A 6-3 win over the rags? I can say, hand on heart, that I am very pleased with the outcome. They were obliterated – obliterated

tyler actually said the rag 3rd goal from the spot gave the result some respectability for the rags!

We had some painful ones back in the day where the gulf was obvious, but I actually can't remember our heads dropping like theirs did today or the gap being this big in a one off match. Even if it meant putting in a couple of stiff challenges. And they have much better players on the pitch than we used to.

I remember the 90s Derbies vividly. Couple of Pyrrhic draws, but on the whole, wank. And I remember them regularly coming to Maine Road and dominating us. They were so much better.

But nothing remotely like that first 45 minutes.

We were like a tsunami. We absolutely destroyed them.

What a half!

That's precisely why I was disappointed at the end of the match.

If we'd started the second half at even 50% of the standard of the first, we'd have been 6 or 7 up and out of sight by the hour mark. It should have been 10.

We were magnificent, both on the pitch and in the stands. Beyond anything that anyone could have expected.

Truly, the best team in the land and all the world.

Arsenal away when we won 3-0 after the Carabao Cup final is the best half of football I have ever seen.

Today was close, but we were perfect that night.

Sane’s goal was perfect football.

90s derbies at Maine Road were tight even games on the whole bar 1.
That’s simply not correct. Not tight AND even. Plenty of close results where they absolutely battered us. 1996 being one. And the time when they came back from 2-0 down to win via Keane - in 1993. They were far superior that day. On the pitch and mentally.

I assume the ‘bar 1 game’ you’re referring to is when they beat us 3-0 under Horton. They were all over us that day. Embarrassingly so.
