There's always issues. I still like it. Dias had a strong 2nd half to last season. I don't see weakness there. Tijani is finding his feet but he is also playing well. Even against Spurs at home, when we played a very bad game, I thought he was one of our better players.
Reijnders should breeze past their central midfield with ease.

If he has a good game I think we win comfortably. I'd play him along with Rodri and Nico, completely dominate that area.

Fair points pal. Love Dias but like Phil he does seem to be playing like he has outside stuff going on. Not saying its his celebrity mrs ( he is entitled to aa private life ) but his concentration levels have dropped for sure. Nothing he cant get back though. Want I want to see most is that we have learnt lessons from playing these cunts. Same every derby. If we take our chances we win comfortably.

We are both mid table standard this season tbf.. can't see us or Utd beating many of the top 6 x teams this season tbf.. we are going to be fighting for 7 to 12 place this year i think..
I don't think they are midtable. I think they're bottom 5. I think we're mid table. We should be beating the worst teams in the league at home.

Them 3 play well they dont touch the ball. I would definitely go with those 3 centrally. Leaving Tijani to roam.

Agree, the next three games will give us an idea where we are at. Hope I am wrong but I think we will struggle especially with the injuries we now appear to have. It is difficult to gel the team together and that high line will be a pain in the backside.

Cherki, Kovacic, Gvardiol, Savio, Bettinelli, Khusanov, Foden, Stones, Marmoush all injured.

First 11 to report fit play.
Gvardiol, Savio and Foden have all been in training this week so should be involved. Think Khusanov and Stones should have an outside chance too.

They’re still miles off being a top side but absolutely no chance they finish in the bottom 5 again this year. They’re 2 new signings will get them plenty more points than last year.

Last season, they were bottom 5 and we were top 3. They did well vs some top teams, though. This season is too young to justify generalisations.

All of them barring Savio are starters so that’s great news.

Not as confident as I have been in recent seasons but as always the usual City 3 United 1 bet will be placed this weekend.

I see them as still being bottom 5 after watching their 4 (incl. cup) games. I don't see us as top 3 after watching our 3 games. It'd be a boring old forum for the first months of the season if there's a limitation on when to make an assessment. I'm going off what we know, rather than wait an unspecified amount of time before proffering an opinion.

Not sure Mbuemo and Cunha are THAT good. Their midfield is rank. You can cut through them still the same way you could last year, fulham and burnley did it as did grimsby at times.

The physicality, and speed of play? The penalty area in set-pieces in PL games has become like basketball thanks to Arteta/Arsenal. Keepers are pressed in the Premier League. Is that different to Belgium? A new keeper also has to learn the strengths and weaknesses of his defenders so he knows whether to play it to their left or right side etc.
You're over-thinking it, maybe - but that's just my opinion. Between the sticks is no place for a shrinking violet anyway.

As for knowing left- or right-footed, the rule of thumb should be that if that would genuinely make a difference, time-wise, then you shouldn't even be considering passing the ball to anybody in that position.

I keep hoping that one day there'll be another Gordon Banks who starts to catch the ball again, and everybody will copy him. We'll then go back to 'proper' goalkeepers.

All the nonsense about 'the balls move too much these days' will be forgotten. In any event, it must be more difficult to punch the centre of a ball than to smother it with both hands splayed?

Assessment of current form is fine, but have you watched all teams to compare? I watched Liverpool and they were pathetic in the 2nd half vs 10-man Newcastle (they were lucky to win all 3 games). Arsenal were poor at United (United were the better team) despite winning 1:0. We played better against Brighton than Arsenal did against United.

We might well win, but realistically with our defence I think we'll need three goals to do it...

These pre-match posts always seem to be split between those that concentrate on the damage we can do to them, and those that can only see the damage that we can do to ourselves.

It'll probably be decided in a couple of moments, I'm just hoping that they fall in our favour. Touch-and-go.
