I watched a clip of Our game v Spurs at the weekend. The 4-2 one where we were 2-0 down at half time. That game was completely turned around by Mahrez who was sublime. Have we got match winners like that now that he and KDB has gone? Players who can take games by the scruff of the neck like that? Can you ever see Doku doing that or Savinho?

This game is must win and the players who start need to take it by the scruff of the neck. A performance anything like the Spurs one or Brighton second half capitulation will be totally unacceptable. We need to go for their throats.

Can't argue with either of those specific examples, but the difference is that it didn't feel inevitable that either Liverpool or Arsenal were going to drop points (let alone lose), did it?

Whereas against Brighton, the writing was on the wall the moment that they equalised. Our body language betrayed this and they smelt blood. Justifiably, as it turned out, again.

Not a 'fanny-wipe', just realistic.
Sadly what you say is true and signs that it might be becoming ingrained too. Had Wolves scored early in the 2nd half, and they nearly did, not sure we would have went on and won that game easily. This needs to be addressed. Should we lose an early goal on Sunday I hope we see a spirited response not some kind of surrender in slow motion. This is one of the most important home games against this shower in years, at a minimum we need to leave nothing behind.

We lose this game and we will be 4 points behind a team that people on here take the piss out of, I hate the rags with a passion, I hate derbies, but if we lose this game then seriois questions need to be asked, that would be 3 defeats in 4 games, if that were the rags or dippers we would be doing a save who ever campaign

Yeah, really worried tbh because I'm not sure I can see a win.
I actually think a loss would see Pep closer to the exit in a lot of peoples mind.

I'm genuinely not convinced Pep is able to turn us around. I've seen next to no evidence of it at all.
Instead of double downing on his style he actually now seems to be buying players (the keeper) that are totally opposite to his famed successful, ball retaining and pressing, formula.

One big problem Pep has now is we are entering an era where the player profile is becoming evidently different to the one this time 10 years ago.

We are in a pace and power era or atleast entering it. The technical ability of the footballers today I would argue is not as high as it was when Pep first took over City. The quality of number 10's and ball playing 8's has diminished and the all round complete number 9 is very hard to come by. Even finding a solid ball playing CB now is becoming difficult.

8-10 years ago Europe was filled with a lot more silky tiki taka number 8s and 10s, perfect for Pep. Now we are in era of the box to box powerhouse who doesn't necessarily have the same technical and tactical nous as it did 10 years ago.

Pep has to adapt to this because the player profile for the football he once played is becoming increasingly more difficult to acquire.

Is he buying them though, I don’t think so.

Then arsenal the week after

Never been so pessimistic about our next 3 games in a week. Really hope the boys prove me wrong and play much better than the last 2 games. Can´t afford to loose more ground against other teams in the league.
