United lose, post match discussion

tbh i thought we were heading for a first home defeat @ Etihad. typical City would be a fitting description again to open the season

but Unshitted's downer is still coming as a real shocker. Gibson's yellow proves that he is not letting off against his former employers.

so i am expecting the rags to drop some more points in this fashion later on especially away. and i expect Southampton to pull one off when they face the rags

Could this not be merged with the main United thread? Seems a bit weird we have a post match discussion thread for a team other than City.

Even though they lost, some things never change. Referees are still reluctant to apply the same standards to their players as they do to other teams'.

Scholes & Nani could both easily have gone for two yellow cards and how did Vidic not get a yellow for the shirt pull late on.

Probably because he let Fellaini elbow De Gea in the face.

Not a great first post Donuts, U a Blue?

Considering he's talking about De Gea and have donuts as username..

I remember the days when Manure wouldn't have a thread on their results but I guess times change.

I also remember the days when we won and the thread wouldn't get within a bulls roar of 234 posts but again times change.

Lets hope this season we have many more threads with the above heading though.

Fair play to Everton and Fellaini, they had a plan, stuck to it and it worked.

It wasn't the best showing from United, and 4-5 players look like they're still not quite fit, the passing was very sluggish from us and our attacking players didn't really do us justice. But there were positives in that Kagawa looks brilliant and Van Persie got some minutes to gain match-fitness.

All-in-all, well done Moyes, but I can't see too many people getting points off us. Gonna make it a hell of a season.

I think it's pretty much only the teams who can physically crush your weak and slow CMs who you're at risk against. Everton and Newcastle for example. The rest of the PL dross/also-rans, who don't have the guts/tenacity/belief/ability to get in the face of your midfield and defence, will get munched in the usual manner.

Obviously it's completely different when you're up against fellow contenders, where that weakness in midfield is a huge problem (look at the way Yaya likes to gore Scholes - such a huge mismatch). Though of course that's not to say you don't have strengths of your own- I'm not too keen on the idea of Rooney and van Persie's movement, and Kagawa's scheming, up against our CBs (especially if there's no de Jong offering protection).

Pretty much spot on. United's midfield is their weak point, but their defence has improved this year and so has their attack so they maybe able to ride it out against even the other top clubs.

Feillani was unplayable yesterday. Was like Drogba at his best. I know he was up against Carrick mostly, but he beat Vidic more often than not.

How is a fifteen minute appearance going to aid his or anyone's match fitness?

Match fitness is gained by playing entire matches, or substantial portions of matches, not ten or fifteen minute cameos

I agree - we have a 'Man United ruined my life and gave me an inferiority complex' thread from a Colin Schindler clone which has run to about 12 pages so far. That should be in here too.

Even though I posted only a few posts ago, I agree, or perhaps as it is a reaction to the rags being beaten, it now should be locked and not merged
