United Report Loss of £83.6m (Merged)

Re: United Report Loss of £83.6m

Operating profit is just an indication of one aspect of how a business performs.

that's an important point.

amateur rags will tell you, they've made 100m profit, it's only the Glazer's who are making them lose money.

that's not how it works. the operating profit doesn't include the amortisations and so forth that every organisation has to write down.

they haven't spent 180m on interest payments.

amongst other things, part of that loss will be writing down the value of the aging squad.

from the headlines it appears they might have broken even, turned a minor profit, without the shocking interest payments.

but if the Glazer's had never arrived, they would still be capitalised on the stock market, which is (more or less) just another form of debt that has to be serviced.

instead of an interest payments, they'd be paying a dividend.

And ours was £121m?

Surely you're not comparing Pidge?

We all know our owners are cash rich while the Glazers certainly aren't.
Not comparing no, the opposite infact. They lost all that without a mass spending spree, yet we only lost £40m more with a mass spree? What are they losing it on?!

No.

They made a loss of 83 million. That's the bottom line as I understand it.
And ours was £121m?

the good sheikh will convert the loss into equity so - hey presto - no loss at all. the rags can't do this because, unlike our owners, the glazers are investing fuck all into the club.

Ehhh...sort of, but the dividend payment is not deducted from p&l, and in any case their dividend never exceeded around £7m per annum, which is a far cry from the obligatory financing costs they face in their current double glazered capital structure

Interesting - Match day income dropped from 109m to 100m.

Media income up £5m to £104m.

Commercial income up £11.5m to £81.4m.

Re: United Report Loss of £83.6m

The operating profit would have been great if they did'nt have such masive debt and associated commitments. Once the 'operating profit' is used to write down the other debts, thats when you arrive at your bottom line, ie huge loss!

Its a bit like having savings in you bank of 25k, but still owing 125k on your house. The reality is you are 100k in debt, and you still have to support that debts interest and associated charges rolling forward.
They are in the shit plain and simple!
