The whining and hand-wringing over there right now is so completely over the top and ridiculous in regards to us winning. Evidently, no one ever spent any money on transfers until Chelsea and us... like... ever... or something.

Net spend! They love shouting about that. They're morons. Net spend is a ludicrous metric. Ask anyone that knows anything about business.

The crying on redcafe and the bluemoon thread in particular is funny as fuck. They're acting like toddlers that have had their favourite toy taken away.

I'd fucking love it if they had another potless season and crash out of the champs league early again. I think we'd see a combination of mass suicides and the sudden realization from many of them that they don't like football anymore.
And not really surprising but they insist that the league was "more competitive" when it was just them and Arsenal and Liverpool competing for the title every single year. Now the league is supposedly non-competitive although two or three teams could conceivably challenge for the title and six or seven challenge for Top 4. They really are bitter, deluded fuckwits.

Re: United thread 2012/13.

I've still got a nasty feeling there are enough people out there who will be willing to take up this IPO to a larege enough degree that gets them out of the shit.

Hope I'm wrong, just got a feeling though.

Hopefully the shares will be overpriced valuing the rags at £2b and no one will take them up

Interestingly, Facebook might play a role. Since that IPO went over like a lead balloon, the US market is nervous about these things.

I'd agree with your sentiments about Frankie, but don't see how Malcolm fits in the same bracket
Because they wouldn't be allowed to do to the Tampa Bay Bucs what they've done to the rags, which is to incur debt secured on club assets. People like them destroy football clubs.
But Platini seems to believe their model is good for football rather than an owner pumping their own cash in and involving the whole community in the benefits of improvement
FFP is about protecting owners who are risking capital they can't afford to lose no matter how badly they use it and penalising those using capital they can afford to lose, regardless of how well they use it.

Good on them , not one Club will be banned under FFP.

Re: United thread 2012/13.

Uneducated post incoming, but do we want the Glazers to go up the swanny and take the Rags with them? Would this not leave them open to a knockdown price takeover just covering money owed, rather than the Glazers current obscene valuation? After all there's little wrong with the core business correct? Just all the debt and interest payments?
