Re: United thread 2012/13.

Good spot that LC.

Also looks like my little piece of research has made it across the Atlantic as well.

From an article in the NY Times:
The Guardian reported on Tuesday that the Glazers “are deliberately avoiding having to present United’s expected decline in financial performance in 2011-12″ to investors.

Instead, Manchester United Ltd., registered in the Cayman Islands, presented financial accounts for the previous year, when it won the Premier League and earned significantly more for making it to the UEFA Champions League final. This year, United was knocked out in the group stage, and finished second in the Premier League.

“Presenting accounts more than 12 months old fails to comply with US Securities and Exchange Commission requirements,” David Conn of the Guardian reports, “and United have had to apply for special dispensation to have the out-of date accounts allowed.”

Re: United thread 2012/13.

Have they still not sold out their season tickets? I imagine they'll get there in the end but it's hilarious how much they're struggling to after just one potless year. Imagine they went 5 or 10 years without a trophy!

Just imagine. I'm hoping it's about ten years, with them just about scraping the Conference in 2022.

Nice one, bluethunthru. If that's your first post, let's hope there are many more!

Re: United thread 2012/13.

Speaking to a rag yesterday, in the past he had been one of the less deluded rags I know admitting that their squad has been punching above its weight in recent years. Anyway we were talking about the current financial situation of the rags and other clubs and he came out with this pearler "I'm getting a bit sick of it now, the whole football/money thing I mean where is it going? Too much money in it and ticket prices are only gonna get higher." this is coming from someone who was considering paying £1000 on a Champs League final ticket a couple of seasons ago. Funny he has only began to feel this way since the end of last season eh?

Re: United thread 2012/13.

they are deliberately manipulating the data by publishing last years result and the 659m fans figure was manipulated by them just in time for the issue ,
thing is whatever money will they raise , even if they are suscribed 80% , the money will go to debt financing which in turn will help them , so united have nothing , absolutely nothing to loose here (except total valuation of the team) , whatever will they raise , it will help them , LGHU :p

PB, as an ignoramus, I thoroughly enjoy reading your posts, because for those of us not educated in such matters, you put the issues in laymans terms and for that I thank you.

For me, you have a company who, whilst it may be legal, are hiding their most current finances. And secondly, manyoooooo may have worldwide appeal in Asia, but America??? The USA is a completely different ball game. Football (or soccer) has nowhere near the standing across the pond as say baseball or basketball franchises.

Like I said, I know little on the in-depth stuff but from a strategic point of view, there are serious alarm bells ringing, even in my tiny little mind!

Alarm bells should be ringing amongst blues too. The aim of the share issue is to pay off a significant chunk of Utd's debts.

That is if they bring it to the stock market and it is a success. At least 2 newspapers ny times and the guardian and one press agency reuteurs have picked up the story and basically calling it a bum deal and the more it is being looked at the more dubious it looks with the glaziers trying to use old accounts to make it look a half decent investment. I can imagine the sec having a closer look at this deal before it signs off and allows it to go to market with the press now reporting on it. No mention yet of the "new company" part of things yet in the press yet PB? Do you think they have snuck that in as technically the glaziers company hasn't floated before even though the asset that people and buying a part of ie the club has been floated before?
