Re: United thread 2012/13.

So the papers are fawning over United giving an 18-year-old left-back a chance saying they are "fast tracking Tyler Blackett" by flying him out for the friendlies.

Yet there was no mention at all outside of the MEN when we "fast tracked" 16-year-old Marcos Lopes and 17-year-old George Evans for the Al Hilal friendly. Apparently that wasn't newsworthy as the papers only reported that a team with Tevez and Yaya were beaten by Saudi "minnows".

Just an example of how the media works with United, the same as this in today's Mail:

Carlos Tevez is poised to move to AC Milan this week, opening the way for Manchester City to make their £30million bid for Robin van Persie.

Then in the same story.

This would play into Ferguson’s hands as the United board are unlikely to sanction a £30m deal for a 29-year-old.

And of course the obligatory...

Sources close to Van Persie have indicated that, if he does move, Old Trafford might be his preference.

PB, as an ignoramus, I thoroughly enjoy reading your posts, because for those of us not educated in such matters, you put the issues in laymans terms and for that I thank you.

For me, you have a company who, whilst it may be legal, are hiding their most current finances. And secondly, manyoooooo may have worldwide appeal in Asia, but America??? The USA is a completely different ball game. Football (or soccer) has nowhere near the standing across the pond as say baseball or basketball franchises.

Like I said, I know little on the in-depth stuff but from a strategic point of view, there are serious alarm bells ringing, even in my tiny little mind!
Alarm bells should be ringing amongst blues too. The aim of the share issue is to pay off a significant chunk of Utd's debts.

That is if they bring it to the stock market and it is a success. At least 2 newspapers ny times and the guardian and one press agency reuteurs have picked up the story and basically calling it a bum deal and the more it is being looked at the more dubious it looks with the glaziers trying to use old accounts to make it look a half decent investment. I can imagine the sec having a closer look at this deal before it signs off and allows it to go to market with the press now reporting on it. No mention yet of the "new company" part of things yet in the press yet PB? Do you think they have snuck that in as technically the glaziers company hasn't floated before even though the asset that people and buying a part of ie the club has been floated before?
There's been a couple of mentions of the "emerging growth company" in the media and I complained about it to the SEC. A few other specialist financial commentators have described the legislation allowing them to do this as encouraging fraud.

If you wanted to list on the London Stock Exchange you wouldn't be allowed to do so with accounts that were dated more than 6 months before the date of the actual prospectus.

How many US investors would even know about or begin to appreciate the significance in financial terms of them going out of the CL at the group stage? They'd see nine month figures 6% up on the previous year and assume the full year figures would show similar growth. The 2012 accounts would make it quite clear how much it has cost them and how bad their cash position is. I think that even if they get the offering away, there might well be lawsuits afterwards once this becomes clear. If you know some financial information that would have a material impact on your accounts, then that should be disclosed to investors.

Re: United thread 2012/13.

I can't remember but have they disclosed this in the risk factors the lack of full accounts, if they haven't surely they are opening themselves up for all sorts of lawsuits?

To be fair, European football is quickly catching up to baseball and basketball in all the ways that matter.

And that is why I tend to take most of what the media write/broadcast about us with a pinch of salt. Unfortunately, a lot on here take what they see in said media as gospel. Sad, really.

Re: United thread 2012/13.

My mates who are Manure fans are always complaing about us buying a title, they bought 12 titles.

No shit, I blame our media relations department, It's part of their responsibility, we should have articles of Marcos Lopes and Karim Rakik all over the newspapers, ffs not just Platt interview!! the PR department need to get their act together.

Re: United thread 2012/13.

Manures starting lineup will probably be like this for the new season
De Gay Jones Rio Vidic Evra Carrick Valencia Kagawa Lucas Young Rooney Our starting lineup could be like this Hart Micah Vinnie Lescott
Clichy Yaya Martinez Nasri Aguero Silva van Persie
I think our lineup is better and should win in the first game we play the Rags.
