Robin van Persie and Mikael Silvestre in Manchester United training on Monday morning

Former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre trained with the Reds on Monday morning.

The 35-year-old Frenchman, who spent nine years with United between 1999 and 2008, is not expected to be drafted in to help ease the club's defensive crisis though.

Silvestre was released by Bundesliga club Werder Bremen in the summer.

Article title in the MEN today made me chuckle, just shows how desperate Man U are when it comes to the defence;

"Manchester United boost as Jonny Evans trains ahead of Cluj game"

I bet Cluj are shitting themselves at the thought of Johnny Evans being fit.
