I still think the rags would be top without van the man.The F.A would have helped them out even more with some more dubious decisions

Yeah, we wouldn't have been allowed to play anyone else in his stead, we'd have just had to struggle along with 10 men on the pitch.

Like the first cuckoo of spring, the rags are nothing if not predictable

Paul Scholes: Liverpool are our big rivals.

Paul Scholes today claimed Manchester City will never replace Liverpool as Manchester United’s biggest rivals.

Liverpool have not won the league since 1990, while City are reigning champions, but Scholes said: “It’ll probably take years for City to create what Liverpool have done. Liverpool, historically, are our biggest rivals, they’re always the biggest games and the best atmospheres.”

That doesn't make grammatical sense does it? How can you use 'are' when talking about the past? Shouldn't it be 'were'?

Pedantic from Salford

Just shows that Sir Alex is a magical manager, seeing things none of us could possibly imagine, who'd have thought Van Persie would be a success

But in the close season, he was telling everyone who would listen, that they would never sign ready-made players. Instead they would prefer to buy them young and develop them through their fabled Academy.
