However, other than past 2/3 years we still took our games with liverpool to be more important in us winning than with yours. Obviously right now you and chelsea are our biggest rivals in terms of competing for trophies.
It seems from this that united fans who say Liverpool is still their biggest game are wrong or lying.

They seem to be forgetting all about Dipperpool lately.

Anyone else seen this.

Except the two occasions they play them, when their games with each other all of a sudden assume unparalleled status in the pantheon of sport, only to disappear from whence they came once the match is over.

In fairness it suits both parties. It is united's way of pretending that our rise to prominence hasn't really happened and Liverpool's way of pretending that they still matter.

More evidence of united's shifting position towards Liverpool. A policy of flattery which is designed to soften Liverpool up. A policy that has clearly worked of late. Liverpool performances against united in recent years have been feeble - and with good reason. People are often complimentary about you when they're taking advantage of you. Could you ever imagine Taggart and Giggs waxing lyrical about one of our players like this as they just did about Carragher?

Ferguson:

Jamie is absolutely a player I admire. He’s the epitome of a loyal, dedicated player who Liverpool have been lucky to have for more than a decade.

He’s been a bedrock of their defensive qualities for years and years. I loved him. Jamie's is a fantastic example for any young lad that wants to play the game.

He’s been a really, really good professional. He’s absolutely the type of player a manager wants. I used to rave about Brucie [Steve Bruce] and the nine years he had with us, and I think Jamie Carragher is that exact same mould - can play with injuries, gets knocked about and gets back up, hardly misses a game.

You’re lucky to have players like that. I was lucky to have Steve Bruce and Jamie is the same type of player. A fantastic player.

Ryan Giggs

It’s a massive loss to Liverpool. You’ve got him, Steven Gerrard and then the likes of me, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville, who have all been one-club players.

We’ve seen so many changes within our clubs. But it’s not only Carragher’s influence on the pitch [that will be missed], I’m sure he has a massive influence off it as well.

An influence on how the club and how the dressing room should be run and the traditions and the history of the club. You pass these things down to the young payers who are coming through and the foreign players who come in.

I’m sure Jamie has been a massive influence, both on and off the pitch. That will be greatly missed by Liverpool.

Keep sucking it up Liverpool. Bend over, safe in the knowledge that you are united's "big" rivals. Another 'nul points' for LFC against united next season methinks.

u didnt watch the 2 matches this season they where just as heated and to the last man kind of games. they dont bend over to the scum at all.

Pool were all over utd at Anfield till the ref did what so many refs do when utd are struggling and started giving them everything inc sending off a pool player. Then a soft penalty to utd and only booked RVP for a red card 2 footed lunge, worse than the one he sent off the pool player for.

Then at the swamp, pool should of got a point but missed a sitter in the last minute.

united have won five and drawn one of the last seven Premier League head-to-heads. I did watch both games and I thought the odd tackle apart they were a feeble imitation of previous encounters.

This recent nauseating 'love-in' between the two clubs suits united to a fucking 'T'.

Right down to the dippers using tragedy to boost their own brand.

So how do you manage to bring the rags into the League Two play-off final?

It went something like this: "This time last year, Nick Powell scored for Crewe in the corresponding match, and was almost immediately snapped up by Manchester *n*t*d."

He then carried on talking about his career at the swamp so far.

Unbelievable, Jeff!
