This image shows the quandary United face in the next few years. How many of them will be there more than a few more years at most? They better hope their replacements are up to the task...

Most dives? Most unpunished fouls? Most yellow/red cards not given when they really should have been? Most obscene rants at officials? I think we should be told.

Is Smalling ever going to make the step up or are they waiting long enough so everyone forgets he cost close to 20 mill and wheel him out as Home grown? They've both been there what 4 years? Who spends close to 40 million on two Centre Backs and still doesn't trust them after 4 years?

Wasn't Smalling £11m and Jones around £17m ?

Financial website Benzigna claimed that "the large cash disbursement for the defender does affect Manchester United's finances, who only reported cash of $113m as of the last filing." ???

So $113 mill = £72 mill minus 17 for the transfer leaves £55 million cash on hand.

Would that be the only money they have for transfers?

Does anyone seriously think that the Gareth Bale "transfer" is anything other than a way to get sponsors on board and raise the share price?

Garay is hardly a top-ranked defender, at Real Madrid Mourinho decided he wasn't even good enough as a back-up and I don't think he's a regular starter for Argentina. £17m is a little steep I'd say. IIRC he played against us while on loan at Racing Santander in the UEFA Cup in 08/09.

Just about to post about this, cheers for post.

Gentlemen, you are now about to witness some spin that would make the waltzers dizzy.

Garay will instantly become world class even though he was loaned out by Madrid.

The cheeky bastards will ridicule our signings yet profess this as some great business when really it's an average signing at best.

Spin, Spin, Sugar.

Well here's one for starters.
