Re: Rags - Record Profits ... How?

Someone explain to me after their worst season for a long, long time United post first quarter record profits?
It's the results for the third quarter, so it's 3 months to March. They were still in the CL, had been in the LC semi-final, signed loads of commercial deals, etc. Next year's accounts won't look too clever, as they'll be losing all the CL prize money plus the revenue for the four or five home games they would have played in the CL.

Yep and with no CL football they are going to have to pay through the nose to attract any decent talent as well. They're already looking at £30+ million plus wages for Luke Shaw and they still need to buy 2 top quality CB's and completely rebuilt their midfield. Add all that on to them forking out £550k a week on Shrek and VanRapist and it doesn't look to clever for them.

Won't the new tv deals buffer all that though?

To a degree they will.

Yep....it was the revenue from 9,000 away fans in the 2nd leg of the League cup semi final ;-)

from the Guardian.....

Van Gaal has given Ed Woodward, United's executive vice-chairman, an A, B and C list of desired players. The prime potential acquisitions include Bayern Munich's Arjen Robben, who does not take his place in Holland's squad until after Saturday's German Cup final, the winger's club team-mate Thomas Müller, an attacking midfielder, and the Borussia Dortmund central defender, Mats Hummels. Van Gaal has also approved Southampton's Luke Shaw and Bayern's Toni Kroos, who were identified as transfer targets during Moyes' tenure.

You believe this shit?

They will have a good chance of Hummels, and Shaw is more-or-less done? but the others? More chance of discovering the Pope digging up Mother Theresa for a spot of necrophilia (apologies to catholics).

You know what time of year it is?

It's season ticket renewal time, they fall for it every year

Jamie Jackson seems a nice guy, but he appears to be part of United's PR team. His tweets and stories make him come across as a United version of what John Cross is to Arsenal, while City get minimal obligatory coverage from him.

This is another story that sounds straight from Ed Woodward's mouth to get hopes up. They seem to be going for very hard to attain players again like Fabregas last year, instead of doing what United used to do best, finding some of the next big things. I mean, Muller, Kroos AND Robben? Yes, I'm sure Bayern will be happy to hand them over...
