Re: Rags you work with.
A mixed bag. Two are decent and knowledgeable, and have the sense not to gloat when they get a rare advantage like when they went ahead of us after the Sunderland defeat.
Our director usually shows his face once a week, and can take it as well as being easily capable of dishing out the abuse. It's good natured banter with him.
Two more are decent footy fans who happen to be United supporters. They are season ticket holders and go to away CL games for the experience of witnessing other grounds and atmospheres. They never gloat, and never have (in 30+ years in one case). They know there has been a shift in power and hope United can somehow build another dynasty. Top blokes: they congratulate me when we beat them and when we win anything. I can't fault them.
Then there is Dave. Goes whenever it is his turn to use a relative's ticket, who seems to only have the ticket so she can get to cup finals (in the unlikely event) and rotates the ticket around family members (at face value of course). Has his green and gold regalia, Rooney and Young shirts. Thinks Anderson is better than Fernandinho on the strength of caps won. Thinks Ashley Young is a good winger. Rates Cleverley and thinks Smalling and Jones are being groomed to be as effective as Rio and Vidic. He maintains Giggs is the best Prem player ever, and in a joint Manchester team would pick more United players than City.
He has contrived a reason to dislike Aguero (the incident with Luiz in the cup semi) and maintains a healthy disrespect for him. He detests Nasri (understandable, as not many outside of his club and family like him). He has bets on United finishing higher than City this season. Despite his green and gold affiliation, he says the Glazers are better owners than Sheikh Mansoor. He thinks United going above City two weeks ago is a sign that United are finding their feet and natural order is restored. Despite the evidence of his own eyes he thinks RVP and Rooney is a better partnership than Aguero and Negredo at the moment.
He thinks City are morally bankrupt and criticises us for the handling of Joe Hart. Critical of us for ruining Sinclair's career but fails to see that United has made multiple transfer errors in the past. He thinks Ferguson was the best manager ever (this not disputed) and says he was tough but fair, but always had integrity!!! He's off at the moment so I've not yet challenged him on the lies in Ferguson's book.
I could go on, but recognise there is a character limit of 6,000.
