United thread 2013/14

It's a repeat of the summer with Fabregas - standard tired old excuse to be trotted out "We tried really hard but the calibre of players we need weren't available" instead of the truth "We made some bullshit offer just so it would look like we were trying to spend money we don't have".

They can probably get Charlie Adam to partner Fellaini in midfield for £7-8m ;-)

Found this mildly amusing....

Scarcely anyone in Britain had heard of Malcolm Glazer or his six children before they began buying United shares in 2003. Malcolm, the son of Lithuanian Jewish immigrants to the US, took over the family watchmaking business

Tick tock anyone?

Appropriate :)

That FT article confirms what I've been saying for a while. The Glazers are only interested in keeping revenues up and costs down. Spending big to win trophies is not part of their plan and they're happy to replace variable revenues like CL income with more reliable income streams such as commercial deals.

And it's starting to dawn on the deluded rags now that's this is the plan.

They have a way to go before dropping like we did but they are making bloody good foundations for it.
I feel like all my years as a decent person is being rewarded watching this start to hit them hehe.
The best bit is appeals to their heart will mean nothing, you don't get that rich by allowing sentiment to cloud your judgement. Their bleating cries of rage to spend will go unanswered.

These comments by Poll will also not help Agent Moyse turn things around - they also confirm what everyone has known for years.

In a sense I am surprised but pleased that refs can now admit it. I wonder if a lot will be made of it and it could work against the scum - probably not....

Former Premier League referee Graham Poll admits to feeling "sense of relief" when Man United won

Former Premier League referee Graham Poll admits he used to feel "a sense of relief" when Man United played well in and won games he officiated.

Writing in his Daily Mail column, Poll said:

"I would concede there was a sense of relief when United played well and won, particularly at Old Trafford.

"I knew if they didn't win there was every chance of seeing and, more importantly, hearing Ferguson and reading his comments about me in the papers the next day.

"All referees knew that Fergie's standing in the game - and the fact that he was at the biggest club - meant that when he unleashed the hairdryer on a referee there were inevitable headlines."

Poll also suggested David Moyes has to accept he cannot enjoy anything like the same intimidating effect he believes Mr. Ferguson enjoyed for many years.

"I fear another defeat for Moyes," he said.

"[Moyes] must accept that he does not have the same intimidating presence as his predecessor had."

No Pogba deal in January...but United could swoop in summer
14 Jan 2014 22:30

Juventus are not prepared to sell Paul Pogba in January despite listening to United's offer.

I can hear a Queen song coming on ... "Another One Bites The Dust"
In regards to who Utd say they will try and buy the queen song that suits them best is Liar.

Under pressure is a good bet also, should play that in the build up to utd games.

I never in my entire life thought I would say this but I wouldn't hate if United got a result Sunday.
