A glimpse into the future.
MAY 2014
Manchester United have sacked their manager David Moyes despite pluckily leading his team to a top 7 finish and a place in next season's Europa League. As he was being escorted from Old Trafford by security guards carrying his belongings in a black bin bag he told reporters, "I don't think I had a fair crack of the whip. The board accepted that there would be a transition period but said 15 years was too fucking long. I'm particularly disappointed as I was confident of regaining the title next season." Sir Alex Ferguson was unavailable for comment.
JUNE 2014
Manchester United appoint Sam Allardyce as manager following his sacking by relegated West Ham. "This is a dream come true," beamed Allardyce. "My entire managerial career has been leading up to this. It's the best job in football. When Sir Alex came calling I couldn't possibly refuse his offer to be manager of the biggest club in the world." Asked if he would change the way United play he replied, "No. We'll carry on the United tradition of playing hoofball."
JULY 2014
Wayne Rooney leaves Manchester United for Chelsea at a knock down price of £10 million following his refusal to sign a contract extension. Rooney told reporters, "I could have stayed another season and then walked on a Bosman but I couldn't be arsed playing for such a fucked up club with shite players and a clueless manager. Robin van Persie has his contract cancelled by mutual consent following a spate of injuries, both real and fake, and signs for Everton on a free transfer. Manchester United are drawn against Buttfuk Baku of Azerbaijan in the qualifying round of the Europa League.
AUGUST 2014
Manchester United sign Andy Carroll for £30 million from West Ham despite the striker failing a medical. "This is a dream come true," said Carroll. "When United tapped me up the little boy inside me couldn't refuse. United's style of play is right up my street and I look forward to getting on the end of a few of David de Gea's hoofed clearances and playing in front of home crowds of up to 40,000." Allardyce added, "I know people will express surprise that I spunked the entire annual transfer budget on one player, especially one who is both injured and off form, but the fans need to trust me. I know what I'm doing. I've worked with Andy before and he's the missing piece of the jigsaw for United. Just you wait and see." Manchester United are out of the Europa League after losing 1-0 at home to Buttfuk Baku and unluckily 1-0 on aggregate following a plucky goalless draw in Azerbaijan. Allardyce expressed his disappointment at going out of the Europa League before the group stage but remained upbeat and said he was relishing the Capital One Cup tie at Morecambe next month.
SEPTEMBER 2014
After losing their opening four Barclays Premier League fixtures, including a 7-0 defeat at the Etihad, United fans' early season disappointment continues with a 2-1 defeat at Morecambe in the Capital One Cup. "The referee gave us nothing all night," fumed Allardyce who also bemoaned the fact that Andy Carroll has yet to be fit enough to play for United this season.
To be continued.
