first of all yes its a sign of desperation but mata is not inferior to fab. you could make the argument that mata is beter the fab. if the scum do get him unfortunately he will give them a possivle game changing boost...

Rooney and RVP are forwards and don't really look to create, whilst Valencia, Nani and Young are Wingers. Not quite sure what relevance Evra has in the slide.

Point is, this stat is only relevant based on chances per game. I reckon Mata played an awful lot of times in the hole for Chelsea since he arrived.

A better stat would be assists. At the end of the day, how can you classify creating a chance? If it's not an assist, was it ever really a chance?

to put it differently, only Merlin (246?) has created more chances in the pl than Mata since he signed and only hazard got more assists last year.

Yes and what happens if you have two great players that need to play different styles or a young player with more potential than an old one? Ferguson did the same thing when he got rid of Ince, Hughes and Kanchelskis for younger players he believed were more talented. He then did the same thing with RVN to change the style.

As for last year United won the league pretty much without Rooney. He was phased out of the team and was almost certainly going to be sold. Rooney was still their second best player.

Gomez was still a better striker than Mandzukic, but Mandzukic was a better fit.

Individually none of Lucas, Allen or Henderson are better than old Gerrard, but the Liverpool team is probably better when those three start together.

Yes I seriously think Chelsea are at the moment a slightly better team without Mata and in the future the difference is likely to grow. Oscar is much better than Mata defensively. With Oscar, Willian and Hazard they can track back defensively, close the opposition and break at speed. At the same time Oscar is only 22 where as Mata is 26. Oscar is still improving and by this time next year I expect him to be better than Mata overall if still behind him offensively.

Benitez another very good manager didn't think the Mata, Oscar and Hazard worked together and played Moses instead of Oscar.

Lukaku needs to work on parts of his game. Playing at Everton gives him the chance to work on these areas of his game. I would have kept Lukaku personally to develop his skills and form a partnership with Hazard and Oscar. That being said I can understand why he let Lukaku go.
