Yep especially with the fixtures coming up like Pool-Everton, Pool-Arsenal, Spurs-Everton in next 3 weeks, while United will have pretty easy run. Going into this with the boost of Mata could really help them to get 4th what is the best they can do this season. (Also with CL money Mata's price is back .)

If he was a regular in the starting XI at the Kremlin, then maybe, but he's a player whom the manager doesn't like.

Mata is not as good as Silva, IMHO, and he's not a first-team regular, therefore not worth as much as we paid four our little genius.

Prices have moved on since then. Silva now would cost 30 million, which is what I think Mata is worth. Him not starting at Chelsea makes no difference, he is still arguably their best player. Good managers don't pick their best players, but the best team.

Yes and what happens if you have two great players that need to play different styles or a young player with more potential than an old one? Ferguson did the same thing when he got rid of Ince, Hughes and Kanchelskis for younger players he believed were more talented. He then did the same thing with RVN to change the style.

As for last year United won the league pretty much without Rooney. He was phased out of the team and was almost certainly going to be sold. Rooney was still their second best player.

Gomez was still a better striker than Mandzukic, but Mandzukic was a better fit.

Individually none of Lucas, Allen or Henderson are better than old Gerrard, but the Liverpool team is probably better when those three start together.

I'm puzzled by this as well. Either they've authorised a bid or they haven't.

The only thing I can think is that Woodward is so incompetent at transfers that they have an agent or other intermediary doing the deal for them.

We are talkin maureen here.. he sent Lukaku on loan yet kept Torres And Ba at Chelsea..

Managers leave their best players out for reasons such as injuries,loss of form,hissy fits etc..
