I'm sure I read somewhere.. probably on here... that Hodgson is good friends with a few agents and there has been a few examples of his mates players getting call ups above players that deserve the call upZaha, got an England game the day after he signed for the scum

This is nothing new, it's occured for many years, within many different countries as wel.
Examples are often seen at U-21 Tournaments with proven quality players not being selected for their countries (as they are already well known) and instead other lesser known players are picked so their agents can have them placed into the shop window.
