I am heartily sick of "news" items where rag players/ex-players are bragging about how great the new faces are. Giggs says Van G is a "genius". Robson says he (Van G) is the best ever. Now Irwin has crept out of the woodwork and says "Shaw is going to be a superstar for umpteen years".

Why are they constantly bigging each other up? City don't go round boasting and predicting miracles. That's a sure way to tempt the gods of football. Anyway, we have more class.

I think personally it's whistling in the dark- they are imagining greatness when they secretly know they won't get near it.

They will be much better this coming season but last season can't ever be erased and i had so many belly laughs at their expense,it was a long time coming and will keep me going till next time

ESPNFC has a headline piece about how "impressed" Woodward is with Van Gaal, culled from his "interview" on MUTV. What a wankfest.

I concur -- they all want to believe that there is a Utd mystique that transcends all else, and that has only been temporarily derailed.

The reality is -- as another poster said here long ago -- there was and is no "United way" -- it was a Ferguson way, and he's gone.

Its like all propaganda - you keep repeating the same message so that those you are aiming it at believe in it - trouble can be that you say this shite often enough you believe it yourself. Looking forawards to a big improvement in the Rags under Turtle Head and I am sure they will just scrape a Europa League place next year.................. improvement on last season after all

Shaw and Herrera signed. One a promising full back who may just struggle to fulfill his potential at a struggling club like the rags. Herrera seems lightweight and will take time to get used to the prem, if ever. Its top class CB's the rags need more important than anything. I'm not sure pan head realises how shit Smelling and Jones are. This will be there major downfall this season, over reliance on the rapist and shreaded wheat head. Not top four for me.
