On their way to two resounding wins.

What a squad...Butthead can do no wrong, in fact a tactical genius.

Friendlies mean jack shit but the more smug they get the more fun it'll be once real football begins.
Finished 3-2

Unbelievable goal from Pjanic

Snip at 20m. Don't forget Fabio, Tosic, Taibi, Djemba Djemba, Veron, Jordi Cruyff, Young, Powell etc etc

Ralf Milne
jim leighton

Slippery Jim.

The goalkeeper who let in five - yes FIVE - goals in a Manchester derby, despite being in a team that cost £13 million against a team full of Youth Team graduates, returning heroes and the odd free transfer.

What a player Jim Leighton was!

23/09/1989 best day of my life. City wise.

What a player Jim Leighton was!

This a Roma side stripped of many regulars compared to United, BTW. Half of the players are youths/B-team. Benatia, Iturbe and Destro may be their only regulars during the season.

But I do hope they leather Roma and The Tactical One decides no more reinforcements are needed.

I told you before that van Gaal does not buy superstars, he makes them. He has a golden hand for that. You will see. And the main thing is the system with which he works - and I do not think that in the first year apart from Mou anybody will have an antidote against it. I do not see a team that can play like Dortmund or other Bundesliga teams in the Prem. Even if he has less preparation time - but I think that his assistant have already started to do the basics at Carrington (and the other teams do not have more) he does not have to play international this season. That makes it easier.

Bayern was in a similar situation when he took over in 2009/10 - at the end of this season Bayern was German Champion, Cup winner and the first time in years in the CL final. Robben, who failed at Madrid the season before, Müller who was newly discovered and Schweinsteiger, who he gave a new job in central midfield (before that he was a mediocre winger) had great tournaments in South Africa.

The difference being my friend, is Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, and Everton. The PL is a very tough league to win now. And at least 3 of hose teams have better players/squads than United.

I appreciate what you're saying, but do you really expect us to believe that Van Gall for all his success and failures, with a weaker team/squad, and his 1st season in the PL, etc, will win the title? Yes, United have a very good chance of finishing in the top 4, but as for the title, not this season.
