Van Gaal is a fucking nutcase. u****d will either win the league by 15 points or he will have walked out by Christmas with the rags in complete disarray 3 points above the relegation zone.

What is this LVG and RVP that keeps being mentioned?

Expressed mathematically, it can be proven that LVG+RVP = SFA. As some say, QED. Is it clearer now?

If they were in europe they would need 6 top signings imo sjk.
Now 4 would do but Herrera is at decent signing, not a top one.

If they fail to get cl this season i am certain as i can be they will be fucked and consigned to mid table for a while.

Lol apparently there has been a "technical issue" with Herrera signing.

If this went tits up for them at this late stage i think i may wee a little due to an uncontrollable fit of giggles.

It would be funny as fuck. The rabid hordes at the caf are already called for Ed's head.

Apparently the Wonga office was closed.

Herrera is a good little signing, however I’d imagine it’s only the start with regards to reinforcing their woeful midfield.

IMO, there is absolutely no doubt LVG will be bringing in a number of other players – they simply have to, however as LoveCity mentioned earlier, I don’t believe they need as many as some people on here are making out.

LVG is a master tactician, something which Moyes clearly isn’t and never will be. He’s won 3 out of 3 in the World Cup with midfielders that wouldn’t get into any of the top sides in European football (De Jong, De Guzman, past-it Sneijder etc) . With that in mind, I struggle to see how LVG couldn’t get United finishing higher up the league than 7th, and that’s even with last year’s team. By bringing in a few more quality players, no European distractions, a fairly-kind start to the campaign and with someone in charge who knows his football, I find it almost impossible to see United finishing outside the top 4.

Liverpool finished 2nd last season by relying on a great strikeforce, the odd moment of quality from Coutinho, a solid season from Gerrard and the emergence of Sterling. The rest of their team, let’s face it, is not much kop (excuse the pun). If LVG can get RVP playing top form again (which is likely), get Mata more involved in an around him, develop Januzaj more, and bring in a couple of solid defenders/midfielders (along with Herrera), then as a team it would be no worse than that Liverpool side, and quite probably better (depending on who they bring in). LVG is also an upgrade on Rodgers. The other real challenge for LVG is whether he can get Rooney back to his best.

3 or 4 top class signings on top of Herrera and I don’t see why they couldn’t challenge. It’s just a question of who they bring in. I can’t see all these names they’re being linked with arriving, but it’s not going to stop with Herrera that’s for sure.

LVG is a great manager when he is managing but he has clearly not even got his feet in the door yet. I wouldn't be surprised to see them sign a few players but I just don't see them as a threat just yet. United will be most dangerous in next years window when there isn't a World Cup and they have finally offloaded all their shite. LVG is like most other good managers who aren't afraid to offload players that are past their sell by date or overrated and that is worrying. They have been playing on borrowed time for years and this year it finally hit them hard just how shit their squad is.

I fully expect LVG to build them around Van Persie just like he has done with Holland. All these antics with Rooney and new contracts etc he will not stand for and Rooney playing every week won't happen if he doesn't churn out performances. Anything else and he will just get rid of him, it's the same as Guardiola and Mourinho who aren't afraid to make quite drastic changes. The first thing Mourinho did at Madrid was get rid of Raul who was past his sell by date but loved at the club, ultimately it has served them well... LVG will do the exact same at United but the scale of the problem is clearly huge and it will take at least 2-3 windows to catchup.

It's unfortunate for us because with Moyes at United they were never a threat because Moyes didn't have the balls to drop Fergies old team. To be fair he wasn't supported in the transfer window apart from the signing of Mata but I think they'll do well with someone like LVG. He is the kind of manager who will go at United with a mallet and turn it into what HE wants and not what Fergie wants whilst pulling the strings behind the scenes.

Either way they also have to worry about FFP if they qualify next year so it could take a long time for them to be competing for the title again but the danger will eventually be there.
