Selling that amount - too little to lose control, but enough to raise some petty cash means only one thing. They are in this for the long haul and intend to bleed this particular piggy dry. good news - clearly LVG's demands for a signing are already causing angst.

After a pleasant, comic interlude I think something nearer normal service will be resumed this season.

It is odd. Most teams when they make a huge money signing, hype the player and release loads of media fluff stuff about what a great player they are. Instead, United seem to have gone for the alternative plan of announcing that he isn't fit to wear people clothes. It is remarkable how badly the football side of that club seems to be run.

Or is it bcos the manager noticed the price tag comes with added pressure and wants to lower all expectations.. Watching the first two preseason games, he looked slightly nervous....
