A story on the DM website today about how when Pique was 12, King Louis was round his house visiting his dad, but decided to just shove 12 year old Pique to the ground and told him he wasn't tough enough to be a CB. I wonder how many other children he's bullied in his lifetime, he really seems like a horrible human being

Gerard Pique backs Louis van Gaal

Barcelona's Gerard Pique believes Louis van Gaal will make a positive impact with Manchester United this upcoming season.
Barcelona centre-back Gerard Pique has said knew Louis van Gaal was a disciplinarian from the first time he met him and is backing the Dutchman to be "brilliant" success at Manchester United.

Van Gaal has a considerable reputation for getting tough with his players, and he has already publicly declared his belief that the Red Devils' 19-year-old full-back Luke Shaw is not fit enough.

Pique clearly remembers criticism he received himself at an even younger age from Van Gaal when he was in the Barca youth ranks and the coach was in charge at the Catalan club.

Certainly it did not seem to do the 27-year-old any harm, and Pique -- who has won two Champions League titles with Barca, plus the World Cup and European Championship with Spain, over the past six seasons -- is confident Van Gaal will be "great" for United.

Speaking on Thursday at the St George's Park National Football Centre in Burton upon Trent, where Barcelona are having a preseason training camp this week, Pique said: "I think he will be great.

"I didn't know him a lot because I was really young when he was Barcelona's coach, but he had a really good relationship with my grandfather, the former vice-president of the club.

"I had the chance to see him one day at my grandfather's house when I was 12 or 13 years old. He arrived at the house and he knew I was playing for the Barcelona youth team. He pushed me and I fell to the floor, and he said 'you are not tough enough to be a centre-back'.

"So, yes, he really is a disciplinarian, and I think he will do brilliantly here."

Without having made his senior Barca debut, Pique moved to United and played for them for four seasons, making just 23 appearances, before returning to the Camp Nou in 2008.

There have been suggestions -- including from Sir Alex Ferguson, the Red Devils boss at the time -- that Pique was homesick, but he was keen to play that notion down on Thursday.

"No, the main reason was because Barcelona came to me and asked me to come back, and for me, Barcelona has always been my team -- I always supported them -- so I asked Sir Alex if he would let me go back," Pique said.

"When Barcelona are saying they want you back, you will be a first-team player, you will have a chance to play in the Nou Camp, with all the atmosphere -- obviously I wanted to come back."

Pique also on Thursday had praise for United striker Wayne Rooney, his former teammate.

"For me, Wayne Rooney is the best English player right now and definitely he would be in the top 10 [players in the world]," Pique said. "He is a top-quality striker, the main player for Manchester United along with Robin van Persie, and he can play in every team in the world that he wants."

With regard to someone he will be playing with this season, Pique expressed sympathy for Luis Suarez, the Uruguay forward Barca have signed from Liverpool for 75 million pounds.

Suarez is currently serving a four-month ban from all football-related activity handed to him by FIFA in June for biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini. Having seen an appeal to FIFA rejected, he has since gone to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and a decision is expected in August.

On that matter, Pique said: "There are some people, experts, who made decisions and obviously I don't think it is a nice thing when you cannot do what you like in life, which is playing football.

"I believe right now that Suarez is having a hard time. However, the only thing he can do is wait until the ban ends and then I'm sure, when he comes back to play, he will be anxious to do well and show everybody that he is one of the best players in the world."

Pique also made it clear he regretted an incident in June where he was recorded, without his knowledge, saying that Cesc Fabregas' move from Barca was "gone" when the switch to Chelsea had not yet been confirmed.

"I didn't expect that the microphones would be on at that time and, if I had known they were, I would never have made that comment," Pique said. "I realise now that I made a mistake, but I cannot go back to the past. I need to deal with that. I hope Cesc is happy at Chelsea and that he does very well."

That's not being a disciplinarian; that's being a f**king dickhead.

Wtf he was 12 years old. No kid is strong enough at 12. The guys got a few screws loose to say the least.

The bloke is a bully in the Taggart mode who rules by fear and intimidation,i see it all going tits up there sooner rather than later.

one or two little surprises await in the premiership for louis, he may be a good manager or not but i think he's a little out of touch with the football in england and one or two defeats will start dressing room trouble then the rot will set in

If they get beat, excuses are there already teething problems getting to know new system, if they win King Louis, Master Tactician. Only if they fail again miserably to qualify for CL will he get the boot. Lets hope he is out of the door by March. :-)

Oh and by the way if not mentioned today they are all still scum.
