When the dust settles from the aftermath of the MK Dons game, one alarming detail comes to the fore. United fielded during the 90 minutes no less than 10 academy players. Many of whom were playing their first ever competitive game in the first team. Looking at the immense ridicule from all sides of the media and football fraternity, can you ever see a day when EDS lads cross the road and play in the big house for City? Can you even contemplate a manager having the balls to take such a risk knowing the reaction if it goes wrong?

I recall when the class of 92 were dicked by Villa on the opening day of the season, when it was lorded that you can't win anything with kids. Good job nobody took any heed then. Now with the demand for signings who of a certain age and stature. Will we ever see a day when kids ever get a chance again?

I think that he is doing an excellent job of exposing the weakness of his squad. Not just by formation but by using 28 players in just 3 games, he is saying to woodward and co, THIS IS IT! This is all you've got. You need to spend money now or the rest of the season is going to be a disaster. I think he is too smart to appear so clueless, but he almost looked smug as he sat watching the future prospects getting dicked. There is no way that someone so organised and methodical did not hand over his player requests prior to the WC, and he's been badly let down by a shambolic recruitment team. I really do think he is playing the long game here.

I stand by both sentiments. Van Gaal picked that side on the same week that the transfer market is about to close. Coincidence? No way! He was brought in and asked to concentrate on youth etc...

But it also begs the question, will we ever see someone attempt such a risky strategy again?

You are implying that van gaal disagrees with what utd are asking him to concentrate on (developing youth)?

Surely conversations such as objectives/goals/priorities were discussed and agreed by both parties prior to van gaal signing so if you are correct and his recent selections (and tactics) were to prove a point (after spunking the majority of the WARCHEST) then I would be very worried if I were are rag...
