having a drink with a mate of mine monday night ( he's a big red ) we were talking football but not banter just general feelings and stuff, now he's a bright lad a nice lad, goes home away and europe a real football fan and he actually comes out with " i think we will win the league " ?????? WTF goes on in their heads ?

To be honest they should. They had a PL winning team, spent heavily and had 1 bad season under a manager now sacked. They have spent again heavily, even by their standards and what they have spent and with no CL football they should be expected to challenge. Anyone else not at least challenging for what they have spent would be seen and classed as failure

I was watching "Missing Pieces", a Kiwi programme about reuniting long lost relatives.

Anyway, the main story was about a Manchester born lad that was adopted out and was raised in NZ.

They found his parents, they were forced to give him up for adoption as they were both only 15 at the time ( parents married as soon as they could and are still together 40 years later).

Cue, emotional reunion, i was right into it.

Hugs, tears, more hugs, then the first question was "red or blue?", between the son and long lost dad, "Red" was the reply from both.

Is it wrong for me to have gone from the edge of welling up, to thinking "pair of twats"?
No, it's what makes you human. You''d have had to have a heart made of stone not to feel that way.

Thank fuck for that. :)

mate they haven't got a fucking prayer of winning the league this season and if he plays that back 3 v us, Liverpool or Chelsea they will be ripped apart

Just reading that post from the fishing forum which compelled me to join and log in. To say that Liverpool weren't hated in the 80's is complete balls. I remember proper fist fights home and away and in the school playground with Liverpool fans. There was always a tasty rivalry between Manchester clubs but being a liverpool fan at school was like an open invitation for everyone to bully you. And then there was leeds United in the 70's who were the biggest bunch of thugs to take to a football pitch, they were diving, cheating, fouling animals who won by sheer force of evil. People have selective memories sometimes, so it's only right to set the record straight.

Only dis.
I had my rag cousin round last night, he was being serious when he came out with "Utd are just responding to the market City created," to which I said bollocks and how many times have we broke the transfer record compared to Utd. He still wouldn't accept it.
You should've twated him then ;)

Yes but never confuse amount spent with quality spending - everybody can see where they have issues and Turtle seems to be doing a Wenger with an I know best approach and steadfastly refusing to buy what is needed to sort defence out etc - you could buy £165m worth of goal keepers in the transfer window but having 10 or so world class keepers and no strike force is not going to win you the league. They will be lucky to see top 4 if he persists with 3 at the back- which fortunately I think his ego will make him do.

I can see our revenue exceeding theirs for this coming season. If our revenue goes past theirs whilst they're still in £300m worth of debt, they'll never see us again.

So even with the Chevrolet deal kicking in this season, they're expecting the next set of figures to show revenue down by at least £38 million compared to the above figures. Obviously, much of that will be down to a lack of European football this season but it's still a bigger drop than I anticipated.

Their wage bill is going to surpass ours soon, pretty sure.

It'd be lovely for them to miss out on top 4, but you can't underestimate how much no European football benefits you as the season goes on, as Liverpool showed last year. United are also out of the League Cup so they're going to have a very relaxed schedule all season and will face top teams who have accumulated a lot more fatigue/injuries.
