Their wage bill is going to surpass ours soon, pretty sure.

It'd be lovely for them to miss out on top 4, but you can't underestimate how much no European football benefits you as the season goes on, as Liverpool showed last year. United are also out of the League Cup so they're going to have a very relaxed schedule all season and will face top teams who have accumulated a lot more fatigue/injuries.

To counter that - until January at least - they will have at best a mid-table defence.

Fuck em, they will still end up outside of the top 4.

I was told last season that a team that qualifies for the Europa League is able, if they so wish, to negotiate their own TV deal
Can anyone confirm this?

That'll be news to BT Sport and ITV who negotiated the UK rights to the Europa League.

Good. The information was passed to me by a rag and he reckoned that UEFA were desperate that utd didn't finish in the Europa league as they would have been powerful enough to negotiate a TV deal that would dwarf the champions league
There again, I really should have known better as the fucking clown told me that Shrek's salary was only £6k a week, with the balance of £294,000 being made up of image rights

You don't know how much that made me laugh. That is so fucking typical of Man United's gobby but clueless fans: Making utter shit up, the upshot of which is "we are so fucking big that even when we fail we succeed more than everyone else".

There was one on here in the close season after they won a few friendlies saying "The bookies have us ahead of City in the title race". I remember another on here, when we bought the new training ground, claiming that a United fan was going to rent his flat out to paparazzi so they could photograph the players.

They just make shit up to brag about, even when they are the laughing stock of football and have nothing to brag about apart from being the biggest laughing stock in football history. Bragging and Man United go hand in hand: it's the reason why these no marks chose them in the first place.

Potentially even better news, their projections for this year are based on finishing in top 3:

Louis Van Gaal, the new manager of Manchester United, appears to have been set his target for the season.

Ed Woodward, the club's executive vice-chairman, told analysts on a conference call on Wednesday that its 2015 revenue estimates were on the basis of the club finishing in the top three of this season's Premier League, reports Roger Blitz.

He added that the club was not intending to dip into the January transfer window, but that it would continue to assess the quality of the squad along with manager Van Gaal.

Mr Woodward's comments came as the club reported a fourth-quarter loss and forecast revenues of £385m to £395m for its current financial year, which began on July 1.

Shares in Manchester United, which have sunk more than 15 per cent since reaching a recent high in July, fell 0.7 per cent in pre-market trading.
