I really don't understand what they are actually basing their opinion on. Zaba would be the 1st choice full back. He was not at his best last season but neither was the whole team. Kompany has shown that you do not write off a class performer on the back of 5 bad games.
Now I think Shaw is a decent player but has he really ever performed at the level Kolarov is able to? Kolarov has been the better player over the first 3 games of this season and Shaw would not get in a combined team in front of him.
Now in regards to Smalling, most of us on here think he is crap. The thing is though that Mangala did look a bit raw last season even though most people saw his potential and hoped he would come good. There really is an argument to suggest Martin, Mangala and Otamendi would all get into a combined team before Smalling, but the other cb position is the most debateable.
As for the lad not putting Yaya in the team, that is pathetic. Lets just realistically put this into perspective, he has scored and created more goals this season on his own than Uniteds entire team have managed. Even when last year when the pundits and opposition fans would have you believe he had a poor season, he scored 12 goals and assisted god knows how many more? That was in a season where he was getting his head back together and then had to go and represent his country midway through the season. He is head and shoulders the best midfielder in the country. Would any sane person really put a perma crocked Schweinsteiger (sp?) who has not even played one full match in this country in a team in front of a proven match winner in Yaya? The same can be said for their new recruit from Southampton. Hes a decent player no doubt who will do a job, but the same again he is not fit to lace Yayas boots. He would not even get into the team in front of Fernandinho as he offers no where near as much.
You could argue Mata for Navas as Mata is a good football player, but Nasri is also a good football player who offers just as much.
The level of delusion shown from United fans after a start to the season where they have actually played boring and turgid football is quite astounding.
Edit- sorry for the long post. I really was astounded that someone could really do a combined Manchester 11 and not put Yaya in it.
