Won. As in the past tense of the verb "to win". What you won in 1993 or 1999, or prior to that, has absolutely no bearing on this or any future season. None.
In the last 5 seasons, we've won 4 trophies, finished 3rd, 1st, 2nd, 1st and 2nd, while you've won 1 trophy, finishing 1st, 2nd, 1st, 7th, 4th. There's little argument that, in this current cycle, we (and Chelsea) are superior teams to United. That doesn't mean it will always be like that though.[/QUOTE
Indeed we will. Your era was based upon Ferguson. It's worth noting that only 3 United managers have ever won the league. Following the departures of both Magnell and Busby you went decades without a title. Your current management structure with no Director of Football is antiquated. The class of 92 who were meant to provide continuity like "the Anfield boot room" have largely also gone. You do still have financial clout but are being bleed dry by the Glazier's dividends and interest payments. Spending like the last couple of years can't continue. Your academy has been overtaken by both ours and Chelsea's.
Sorry but that is simply historically incorrect.
Ast 5 years winners
2010-11- Man Utd
2011-12 Manchester City
2012-13 Man Utd
2013-14 Manchester City
2014-15 Chelsea
That's 2 each for United and City.
The economic point is neither true as our finances will only get stronger as we overtake Real Madrid in real earnings.
