Matic can free up Pogba to play further up the pitch so he might be able to get as far forward as the half way line.

They're going to be really exciting to watch this season.

Been ill and had very little to do so had a browse on redcafe to see their reactions to the Matic signing. Mainly for a laugh to see them try to convince themselves he's great despite being very ordinary at best. A lot more people than i thought were quite honest acknowledging he's a very underwhelming signing but there was still the odd absolute gem in there.

"Excellent acquisition. Finishing touch on the midfield and gives us arguably the most complete mid3 in the league (Magic-Herrera-Pogba)."

"I personally think we now have the best midfield in the league, with Herrera, Pogba, Matic and the back up of Perreira and Fellaini/Carrick we have a mixture power, skill and more importantly a real game changing unit."

I genuinely burst out laughing at them. Signing a guy Chelsea didn't want gives them the best midfield in the league apparently. Chelsea would not have let him go if he was that good. City's Spurs' and Chelsea's are all comfortably better.

Also had a good laugh at their "who'll be our top 5 scorers" thread. The amount of goals the think they'll score is hilarious. it's like they've completely forgot they've got Mourinho as their manager

This one sums them up brilliantly and there's loads more similar

Lukaku 29 goals
Rashford 19 goals
Martial 16 goals
Mkhitaryan 13 goals
Mata/Pogba 11 goals

That's 99 goals from just 6 players. For contrast, they scored 54 league goals last season, less than Bournemouth...

I was well happy when I heard Fellaini might be off. Gutted it seems he's staying.

Maureen's right. The guy can't play football (I can pass better with my left foot than him and I'm a 42 yr old goalkeeper) but he's one of, if not their most effective player.

I want fellaini to stay. When he's on the pitch, you know how they're gonna play.

After spending the majority of my life listening to people talk about "the United way", its good to know Moyes, Van Gaal and Bourihno have firmly nailed the coffin lid on that, but dont tell Sky. It will be interesting to see the reaction if results are not stellar, both Moyes and Van Gaal lost the crowd due to the lack of style when performances weren't great and I think the present encumbent was on borrowed time last year.
