I expected it to be Jaime Jackson based on your description, but it's Posh Barney.
... so I wouldn't take it to heart. He's a contrarian. The Guardian's articles have been going downhill for years. You have more fun below the line than with the pieces themselves.
All the articles on that lot - in every paper - have missed the key point. They have assembled a very strong side, only to play them like a Tony Pulis mob. It's like buying an expensive bottle of wine... and mixing it with Tesco brand orange cordial.
Their fans are overlooking it because they think it might get them silverware. And it could. But once they get that tastes of victory, will they then be happy to continue in that vein? Because I'd be fucking livid if Pep used the team we have to play defensive, counter attacking football against the likes of Burnley and Southampton.
If it is all about the winning? Makes it hard for them to scoff at the "glory hunters" label.
