According to Wooden Ed Yoonited are 2nd in Premier league and in the 6th round of F A Cup.
Sanchez has sold 3 times as many shirts as they normally sell in January...proves they choose players for shirt sales rather than football ability or to fit into team ethos.

Did he say 6th round - if I was managing Huddersfield I'd use that quote in my preparation - the next round is the 5th,

As they don't usually buy anyone of note in January that is hardly a surprise

Yeah it's on the MUen also says club have budgeted to reach quarter finals of Champions League...so Sevilla might not be too impressed either.

He fails to mention they get no extra revenue for those shirt sales.

Loss for the last Quarter but shirt sales, tweets and facebook likes up. What a fucking joke of a club!
@Prestwich_Blue any input on the latest figures?
Interesting figures based on a quick look. Taking this tax write-off out of the equation their revenue stream is pretty flat but expenses are going up. You'd expect that for matchday and broadcasting revenue, which won't change much from 2017 to 2018 but commercial income is flat as well, which suggests they've maxed-out their appeal. They're also predicting pretty much the same revenue for 2018 (c£580m) as they recorded in 2017, which confirms that there will be no revenue growth over the full year. But their expenses will be up, including wages and amortisation, so their bottom line might not look so healthy by the year-end.

Another interesting figure is Deferred Revenue, which is money recieved in this financial period that belongs to a future period. So, for example, Adidas may give them £75m in a lump sum but that's over 5 years, so they only put £15m a year through the P&L account and treat the rest as deferred income, to be credited in future years. It would also include season ticket revenue, which is only recorded as actual revenue on a game-by-game basis That's down quite considerably on the prior 6-month period, which probably helps explain why revenue will be flat.

Surely this can be offset against retweets and facebook likes?

Just had an interesting conversation about this on Twitter with someone who seems to know what he's talking about. When Adidas paid them £75m up-front, there was a sales target to achieve before they got any additional revenue from shirt sales. So Adidas basically said they wouldn't get a percentage from shirt sales until they achieve 10m sold (for example) and they reckoned that might take the whole 10 years of the contract (or less maybe).

It seems they've released a load of retro shirts to help them meet the target and they've achieved it ahead of schedule. That means they now get their 10% or whatever for each shirt sold. That sounds impressive on one level but just reinforces my belief that to a large degree they're running to stand still financially.

They have also progressed in the knock out stages of Champions League...so have they officially beat Sevilla.
In the 6th round of F A Cup so they have beaten Huddersfield ...does Wooden Ed have a crystal ball or are referees under orders to ensure they progress.

No crystal ball just match officials to ensure safe passage.

It's a known fact that United sell 3 million shirts a year plus or minus almost nothing. It's also known that while other clubs generally get 10%-15% royalties on shirt sales, because United's deal with Adidas is so front loaded with a guaranteed cash amount they get only 5%-6% royalties and they only kick in when the threshold has been reached. How many times have rags banged on about shirt sales paying for players' transfer fees and wages? They've already been saying it about Sanchez but this myth was exploded in a very good Guardian article after Pogba signed and deluded bullshitting rags were insisting he'd already paid back his transfer fee in shirt sales within weeks of signing.

Christ, they've just won the self proclaimed "Most Instagram posts for January" Championship according to Woodturd on the SSN website, courtesy of Wankchez's move from the gooners. Comical.
