Jose's going to have a little problem then. He had to try to play an attacking side against Spurs because they were 12 points behind us and just bought Sanchez. If they played their usual drab 0-0 draw he'd get slated. So he went an put Pogba in a midfield 2 and bent over to Alexis playing on the left and put Martial on the right. Will be interesting to see how he sets up and if he decides to open up against better sides or crawl back into a defensive shell hoping not to lose.
He has to revert to type. Historically, his success has been, big men, deep defence, counter attack.
The thing is, they all knew what they were getting. I can't understand why they expect him to change. He looks like a fish out of water playing 'foot forward' football.
Similarly, Pep would fail playing the 'deep block'.
Our squad is built around Pep's style, hence our success.
Their's isn't built for a Jose team. Too many weak midgets, hence no actual recognised style.
Revert to type José, or it's Europa and sack

Aren’t American sports fans in general very critical of their teams if things aren’t going well?

I guess so, though a couple of hours on the Bluemoon Match Day thread makes be think the English are a standard deviation or two ahead . . . :) Yanks more just stop going or caring. There's definitely a big bandwagon element. No one where I live gave two fucks about the Golden State Warriors basketball team for 30 years until they got good again. All this perhaps explain why I fell in love with City 15 years ago and detest Utd virulently.

Sport isn't quite as tribal over here save for certain every strong rivalries. Police don't separate the away fans -- opposing fans sit freely next to each other; firms don't typically lie in wait in dark alleys to pick off lone opposing fans; there's no singing nor much unified chanting (save for Duke University basketball fans) unless prompted by a giant TV screen.

Only positive is I can have a beer (albeit a crap one) while sitting in the stands in the US during the game. Other than that, much prefer the fandom in the UK.

They can’t take it can they, he looks like his little world is crumbling around him lol.
Does he ever take that tracky top off the tramp? And where’s that accent from.
His name is Brendan or Brenton or something similar, he's from Nottingham and is a Forest fan, masquerading as a rag, in order to make £££££'s. He was outed on twitter fairly recently.

How could a normal human being stoop to that level?!

Yeah, it reminds me of some of our transfer dealings when we were buying players for the moment rather than the future, and eventually ended up with loads of old players on huge contracts that we couldn't shift. Players like Craig Bellamy who were fantastic for us at the time, but the idea of giving a 5 year contract to a 29 year old was ridiculous and we ended up (I think) subsidizing his wages elsewhere for a long time after he left.

Sanchez might be worth his record salary right now, but he's got a contract until 2022, meaning that in the 21/22 season, they're still gonna be forking out huge amounts of money for a 34 year-old that's very unlikely to still be a regular starter.
Very much so and we really paid for that with continuing to pay wages just to get rid and such. How utd have managed to drop from the top to where they are i find a bit comical if i am honest, as in no blue specs, it is almost a textbook cut the head off the golden goose.

Focusing on the here and now with a galactico style transfer policy in a very ad hoc manor has killed them off. It feels like they bought some galacticos with little thought to the managers opinion or a real idea for them. For example Pogba has always been the cherry on the top, utd needed diligent dedicated smart players with an engine, a Land Rover if you will whilst Pogba is a doom buggy. Fun for a few times a year but not really useful and needs a lot of tlc to keep running well.

Look at Sanchez, now i do not blame them for grabbing him, they have the mega bucks and got him, ok. I do feel even if he was offered as reported back in September it makes little difference to the spur of the moment reasoning. Mourinho will have been pretty settled with his squad with no mind for shoving another attacker in.

The following is just conjecture on my part so feel free to not read it...

My opinion of their dynamic now is that Sanchez's arrival has caused a few issues. Mourinho obviously shoved Pogba back to accommodate a setup with Sanchez. I believe his argument on the touch line with Mourinho was a manifestation him feeling slighted. He loves being the big cheese, love sit and invites it. If Mourinho pushes Pogba back to the middle or wherever Pogba will feel he is no longer top dog after being shunted.

To that extent he seems a bit like Ronaldo but not as arsy that i can see as yet as Ronaldo is a proper whining sod, same "ball park" though. I think Pogba is questioning his mid to long term future at a club. He can see it is not likely to see the glory he wants as long as we exist. Dreams of Real Madrid are not far away when his head touches a pillow, he does not want out but he would not say no to a move is where i think his head is at. That said, i do not think Madrid will be desperate to get him going off his performances so utd could very well be the only party in town for him.

Sanchez arrival will also not have Martial and Rashford happy, one of them will go i think, and they know it! Mourinho will not have the patience for Rashford imo and keep Martial of the two. Sanchez will also be seen pissed off rather a lot as he demands perfection around him, Rashford and co are nowhere near his level, this will see him lose his temper rather often.

tl;dr they are more unsettled than it may look on the surface.

Hasnt Pogba already asked for parity in wages with Sanchez ? wont be long till a few others do the same , panic buying with no future planning its what Moaninho does , cant believe hes not getting more flak from the media after spending 350m + and still a million miles off us........a lot of the media were saying prior to last season that he has the edge over Pep because of his Prem experience and he ALWAYS wins the title in his 2nd season wherever he goes

Here is a question for you to put Pogba into perspective...

How many teams fighting relegation would want Pogba on his football only right now? Ignore cost or commercial value stuff, purely on what he brings to the table as a player right now.

In that light i suggest non because a luxury player would simply not be tolerated now. His lack of tactical and/or positional discipline would stick out like a sore thumb in teams drilled to the n'th degree in defensive formations.

I had forgot about that mate. It seems he does have a parity clause in his contract as this has been noted by a fair few now. His agent i think would rather die than not have such clauses inserted being a more solid reasoning to assume it. Pogba likes himself a bit much so the hat would fit very well that he has this clause. I wonder how much this will limit them. They can't buy many more on mega wages and Ronaldo returning would demand he is the highest earner even at his age as he knows they will likely pay it. Could do with @Prestwich_Blue or @aguero93:20, @SWP's back to elaborate on their finances, even speculating. It gets pretty complex pretty quick with utd's finances.

It certainly seems like a limiting factor due to the huge numbers they pay and regularly raise the bar.

When I watch Pogba I see Salif Diao or Fabrice Muamba type player I can't for the life of me see what the hype is.

Just shows you how far the Rag marketing machine will go to promote a player.

The fact they sold him for £1m and bought him back for £100m makes it more laughable.

In that exchange Chris i have read when Mourinho looks aghast it was him asking Pogba to help Matic and Pogba replying "how?". He then goes on to explaining his job again to him.

The man needs a world class midfield setup to carry him and allow his bit part stuff. Juve had it perfect for him, slower pace of play, world class defenders and mids around him. The idea you could say anyone who needs such an exacting setup and not even be that competent in others as "world class" is just absolute rubbish.

I doubt utd ever will give him that platform Juve did, especially with Mourinho around. The more i watch the more i feel correct he was totally a commercial purchase with little to no input from the manager. I think of it as a person getting a good promotion at work, you get the nice office in the corner BUT we choose your secretary. You deal with it but it is not ideal. They are not on your wave length and do things slightly differently to your annoyance.

Just nipped over to the Caf for a brew.
It's now dawning on them that we either could win the league in the Derby, or get a guard of honour.
If the latter, they're hoping United refuse to do it. Classy.
Personally, I'd like to win it that day. Thoughts anyone?
I wouldn't want their smacked arse faces anywhere near us walking out as possible champions.
Fuck em.
They can be our ball boys for the day.

Does he ever take that tracky top off the tramp? And where’s that accent from.

Nottingham he’s from and used to be a Forest fan then decided to go balls deep to support the rags. The internet as an invention has a lot to answer for when it gives a platform like this deluded idiot a platform to spout and make money from rag propaganda.

They seem to think their squad is as good as ours and it’s all going to come good next year. The rags in full Scouse mode.
Another delusion they collectively have. We are some how a one season wonder who will drop off next season with them closing the gap. There is nothing that points to that at all. At worst for us we continue the gap as we get better together with additions. United still look like strangers to each other all to often.

If we win it, retaining the premier league is a huge task. After 2012 and 2014 we came back the season after not prepared or motivated to do it again. Having a summer tournament doesn’t help neither as a lot of players won’t be back until the beginning of August. Can’t see Pep letting the intensity levels drop next season, I want us to grind them into the ground again.
