I think they would struggle to flog both for £80m.
Which top club needs a new keeper? We only ever hear of Real interested in the keeoer, no one else. So why offer stupid money if no one else us interested (or he doesnt want to go anywhere else)? And if they want to get rid then they will have to take what is on offer.
Pogba - what club would pay stupid amounts (United excepted) for a player who turns it on once every 6 games (and usually against relegation fodder).
He will be like Adebayor was at City.... Will go out on loan for x amount each season and the rags will pay half of his wages until the contract runs out.

I can see De Gea going to PSG as Buffon has got to be 40 if he's a day. Real Madrid will be out of the question for him as they have just bought Courtauis(not sure why mind) and already have Navas

Regards Pogba, someone will take him as he is still young, a world cup winner etc and I imagine he and his agent will put his shit time at United down to poor management, and someone will believe them. Maybe PSG again

It would probably help if Ferguson and Charlton buggered off,

Been saying precisely this for years. The Pisscan wields too much power at the swamp, always has done. It was he who told the board to appoint Gollum. Imagine that: leaving a job and telling the company who they should employ to replace you? And I'm prepared to bet no transfers are approved without his permission, either.
And the Ticket Tout has been leeching off that club since he hung his boots up. A so-called 'ambassador' of the club - a meaningless title given to him to appease the lemmings. Gets paid to go on all the club tours, stays in 5 star hotels, enjoys all the expensive luxuries, probably a suite in the director's box...he's the only human being to have rigorous mortis whilst he's still alive.

As others have said, if the club swept away the cobwebs of yesteryear, binned all the hangers-on like Pisscan and Ticket Tout, and started afresh, they'd be in a far better position than they are right now.

The appointment of “Ole” and Phelan point to the opposite. They never learn..... thank fuck.

United are trapped by their own folie de grandeur. They need to forget all the shit like "biggest club in the world" and "United way" and go away for two or three years - in effect - not bothering about league position or winning owt, just focusing completely on rebuilding the club from top to bottom. They have got the financial resources, and they have (probably) got some decent lads in the youth team. They need a Director of Football for sure, but that's just a start. The whole set-up in rotten and needs reconstruction. It would probably help if Ferguson and Charlton buggered off, or at least took the Trappist approach for a bit.

The problem is the fans - and quite likely the owners - would not like the consequences of this, because for 3-5 years they would not be able the play the Big I Am and would in effect be settling for a degree of short-term mediocrity.

The other snag is finding the people (Manager and background staff) to execute the rebuild. Very, very tough. Because the guys with the right qualities are few and far between.

For the rags, this would not be possible. They have to stay relevant because that is where their money comes from, TV, advertising, sponsorship etc. This income only continues if they keep there or there about hence the quick fix every year.

United had so much success for so long they thought it would never end. You don't have much incentive to change a successful system. Ferguson held it all together, getting in someone to directly replace him and succeed was virtually impossible.

The same thing happened after Busby. In fact what we are seeing is practically a re-run. It took years for United to find their way after Busby, and involved a relegation. Eventually they found Ferguson, but he was close to the sack at one point. Will be interesting to see how it works out.

He saved himself winning the Fa cup at the time, they sack managers for winning that in the modern day rag central.

I’d guess this post is the only one ever made on Bluemoon that includes the phrase, Folie de Grandeur.

Is so, Chapeau.
