To be honest Mourinho is a great manager, honestly he is. His track record speaks for itself and he would do a lot of good at most clubs, I think he is better suited though at relatively poorer clubs where he can build the teams he wants. His problem is the club he is at, he has been found out in England mostly because he has inherited a dressing rooms of egos and a culture that someone like Pep wouldn't touch with a bargepole.

For them it comes down to transfer policy and he either has no say or very little say and that is pretty much why they are in the state they are. He hasn't got the backing to get rid of the rot and buy in the team he wants, he didn't have that at Chelsea really the second time around either.

For them spending £200m on Pogba or £300k a week on Sanchez is more important than using a portion of that to get them a Bernardo Silva, Gundogan and Fernandinho.

He won't go I don't think but to be honest it is pointless any manager going there because they are only interested in signing players that sell shirts.

I have to disagree in that if he were still a great manager, he would get more of a tune from the players he has irrespective of egos. Personally, I would say he was previously a great manager who is now unable to overcome the changes and new challenges that teams bring to the party.

If he hasn't already, he will lose the dressing room totally and the scum will be forced to act sooner rather than later to get shot of him

He is finished in the PL

Well he be there another 2 seasons because the rags have an option of an extra year.

Yes, that was my initial reaction too. It's very interesting how they've created contracts where the club can unilaterally exercise an additional year though. And (spit) quite clever on their part.

Pogba vs Mou will dominate headlines and water cooler banter but the Alexis debacle is just as embarrassing. Mou and United wanted so badly to sign him so City wouldn’t, they failed to properly assess whether he was the right fit for a Mou team

Genius from Txiki et al, United saddled with an underperforming player with a virtually immovable contract

Feel for Rashford, seems a good lad and wants to thrive at United but Mou is wrong for him - Carragher was right about him moving away to improve
Agree with all of this

Exactly. Martial, Rashford, Pogba, Sanchez and pretty much everyone else are all playing worse for him than they did and do for other managers.

It's a manager's responsibility to coach his team and get the most out of his players. You see the improvement in our youjng players that has been a result of Pep's coaching, and then look at United and wonder what Mourinho even does.

I legitimately cannot believe how he's managed to screw up so badly and create a mess this big in a 2 year period. Then again, it's the same guy who had Chelsea in a relegation battle 3 years so.

I heard from my source that de gea is purposefully running down his contract as a revenge for united mucking up his tranafer a while back.
Interesting if true

De Gea has nowhere to go.

Real Madrid just got Courtois
Barcelona couldn't be happier with ter Stegen
Atletico Madrid have Oblak, who's better than De Gea.

Bayern have Neuer
PSG have Buffon but have benched him because Areola has arrived.
Chelsea have just broken every record for Arrizabalega

Juventus would be the only slightly feasible destination but they really like Szczęsny, they pretty much showed Buffon the door because of him.

Is United's Carrington training ground as open for the media to observe as City's was? Seems strange that they were able to get that footage - Mourinho, whatever he is, is not a fool. He's surely have to know it was likely to be filmed.

Mourinho somehow outlasting Pogba would just be the cherry on top of this whole post-Ferguson era. For all the shit we give him (rightfully) the guy is still an extremely talented player and under most any other manager would be world class. Letting him go to Barca or PSG would be really stupid.

He'd make a decent back up / Cup keeper for us don't you think

Yep seems all there players have it but they did sign up to that so only themselves to blame.

I think you're falling into the trap of underestimating the players because they're being managed poorly.

It's not luck that we wanted Pogba and Sanchez and Fred but they'd all been poor while our signings have been exceptional. We aren't dodging bullets, you're just seeing great players go into a bad environment, with little individual coaching, no real style of play, and a dressing room with zero morale, while on the other side of town, great players are going into a great environment, happy dressing room and receiving great coaching.

Pogba in form from Juventus or France alongside Fred and Matic would be a midfield worthy of a title contender. Lukaku, Sanchez, Martial in form is the same as a front line. The goalkeeper is obviously good enough.

So you have the defence, where Luke Shaw seems to be coming out of hibernation finally, Diogo Dalot looks good and had a big reputation as a potential future star for a reason, and Bailly is fine when he's not injured. Lindelof was a massive prospect before Mourinho ruined him and when he plays for Sweden even after barely playing for United he looks like he could be useful.

They probably need another 2 fullbacks and a CB and they'd be at worst guaranteed top 4 and playing some decent football.

It's 90% in the manager.
Let's look at Uniteds sqaud:

De Gea - World class.
Romero - Okay as a Backup.
Grant - Okay as a 3rd keeper.

Darmian - Not good enough
Dallot - Youngster
Valencia - Too old
Bailly - Flashes of quality and might be okay with a top centre back as a partner
Lindelof - Would suffice as a backup
Jones - Not good enough
Smalling - Not good enough
Rojo - Not good good enough
Shaw - Could work out as a good player in future
Young - Too old
Pogba - Fantastic player but a terrible attitude, pep would have sold him in mourinhos position
Fred - New signing who needs time
Herrera - Okay as a backup
Fellaini - Might get away with being a backup under a new manager, depending on his playstyle
Mata - Regressed massively under Mourinho, might be okay as a backup
Matic - Getting older will need to be replaced soon
McTominay - Youngster
Pereria - Youngster
Sanchez - Good player but hasn't been at his peak for a long while
Martial - Could do well under good management
Lingard - okay as a backup
Lukaku - Might do well under new management
Rashford - Not progressing enough

I count about 6 players who need replacing there.
1 World class centre back and another solid centre back. 2 new full backs. A Right winger and probably a new striker to be a backup for Lukaku

I'd be amazed if that doesn't cost at least £250m
