I saw a chunk of their game this morning and thought similar.
I think they are primed for an implosion at some point. They narrowly avoided one after Spurs, but because the football is so shit, they're only ever 2 or 3 losses in a month from a complete meltdown.
Mourinho was so transparent in how he suddenly started trying to grab onto the fans as a lifejacket in August, suddenly changing his tradition of going down the tunnel before full time to spend 10 minutes applauding the fans, claiming the fans were too smart to fall for fake news in the press etc. His problem is that the fans are fickle, and they'll turn on him after another bad patch.
They face Chelsea, Juventus twice and then us in the space of 3 weeks at the end of October/start of November, with only Everton & Bournemouth as buffers between the big games. That will be an interesting run to watch.

It would be some game if we played like last night.
Probably a 7-5 'classic' of wide open, lethargic, incompetent shite.
