I think that's harsh. Van Gaal got slated because at the time City were in the ascendancy but the press were also helping sew the seeds for Jose.
If you look back on his time, he was bringing young players in and putting them into a system. Given time I've no doubt he'd have won or competed for a title with that squad.
But they panicked and were seduced by Jose as a cure, and when Van Gaal left Jose inherited a team of players nowhere near suitable for him.
It was a perfect storm and it's great to see the train wreck they are now, but I honestly believe they were mad to sack Van Gaal.
