Great idea! Let's imagine what Mourinho would do with the same squad.

Oh wait, we already saw him do it and they were guaranteed top 4 and won a couple of trophies.

Solksjaer is shit. He was shit and Cardiff and hes shit now. They should be competing with Tottenham, Chelsea and Leicester for 3rd place.

Pity the ex-rag group wont come out and tell it like it is.

OGS serves no useful purpose as a manager , Cardiff at least had the good sense to fuck him off.

Spirit of 1999 ( my arse ) indicative of where they are mentally.

LOL!

Not the same squad - what you've mentioned was two seasons ago, conveniently disregarding last season where Mourinho was sacked because he couldn't keep dragging them up after his self-proclaimed 'biggest achievement'. Further to that, a player's ability isn't static - you only have to watch them to see how bad guys like Matic and Mata have become.

He probably is shit, but to think they should be competing for third? Ha - no chance. Not one. The teams mentioned have vastly superior squads to them that their players would struggle to get into.

Had to laugh (cringe) at the build up. Pundits banging on about them having their mojo back, coming into form, their away form superb etc.

Jesus wept, they beat partizan with a penalty, drew against the dippers with a goal that would have been chalked off if it was us, beat an abject Norwich in the course of which they were awarded two penalties, and beat Chelsea with a free kick and - you guessed it - a penalty.

They don’t score from a pen or free kick today (that’s the ref banishes to league two for the foreseeable) and, lo and behold, they draw a blank.

Wankers.
I watched most of the match on BT and was listening to Rio Ferdinands post match analysis. He said the rags had been playing well for the last three or four games but they just couldn't get going today for some reason, which he could quite explain. He implied this result was just a blip, possibly a result of tiredness with the recent heavy schedule. Hopefully soon back to winning ways he suggested.

Firstly, I thought, that's bollocks, surely, because I don't remember them playing well for the last four games. You account above seems much more accurate. And secondly I thought just what is the point in Rio ferdinand talking such bollocks. Why? Nobody believes it. Is it a case of let's pretend the rags are still great? Talk about them challenging for top four but ignore the results and show them last on MOTD so hopefully nobody notices they are actually crap.

ushited were shockingly bad yesterday. Long may it continue.

Rubbish. You replace him with basically any manager with the same squad and they'd be able to do little with it. He has Jesse fucking Lingard, some rubbish Brazilian that came through their academy, and 45 year old Juan Mata as their attacking midfield options. No manager worth anything could do a job with that kind of 'talent'. As for beating Bournemouth, they were in the top half before this round so not exactly complete mugs.

I'm not saying he's a good manager - he probably isn't at the higher level he's at now. But replacing him with someone else without first addressing the number of deep issue they have in their squad, as a part of a wider structural issue at their club, will do nothing.
And that's why they are onto their 4th manager since gpc cowardly retired. It's all about planning which they arent interested in, short term profit.

Weirdly, I get no satisfaction in seeing him sat on the bench with that 'f me what is going on' expression on his face. He seems like a decent guy, just not good enough and the victim of cynical mismanagement from above. Still, it's kinda funny tho
