Not much of a reaction to the goal.

Yes, that was the end that City had that day. Mrs Vienna was in there.

However, her dad got a ticket from a rag mate, and he was in with the red filth.

After the invasion I decided to get out and within minutes was on the bus home with the driver telling me game had been abandoned.

Yes - plenty in there. We were about half way up just to the left of the goal (as you look at the pitch).

It was one of those 'hide your colours' sort of days - The rags were in line to go down and some serious bother was expected inside and outside the ground. The whole ground was in shock for a few seconds Denis scored...It was just so perfect.

We were ready for a war when the hordes of baggy trousered scruffs poured onto the pitch to try to get the match abandoned, but they lost heart (bottle) by the time they reached the halfway line, and we were rolling with laughter watching them singing "we'll support you ever more". It all petered out a bit after that - a few minor skirmishes outside and in town as I recall.

I was 13 and went with a pal who was 16
was a very hostile atmosphere from the start, City fans were split in two but held our own before and during the game but after the invasion things got to much for me and my pal and we decided to get on our toes towards the bridge over the river near Ordsal .
when we eventually got home in Blackley we re enacted the goal over and over again with our casey ball and jumpers for goal posts in Boggart Hole Clough ........fantastic day !

Too young to attend that day so how many blues were in the ground that day?

I was.. In the Stretford end.. Was a few blues in there but were very quiet.. Jumped up when Law scored and was spat on and had 40 odd year old wanting to fight me lol.. I was 15 and tiny.. Wasn't the best experience getting back to Cheetham Hill after the game.. But fuck me I did let the rag twats know when I got home.. Love the bit in the vid where Doyle just stands there and no fucker bothered him..

Very scary afternoon. Relatively safe in the rag road paddock compared to other areas but dodgy outside before and after. Was worried about two mates in the Stretford end as one spent the bus ride to the swamp telling the rags about all the grounds in the second division.

Ive told a few rags about the swamp over the years as ive been there more than most of the "we" and "us" pub rags.
