They very rarely ensure the foundation is solid and the future succession planning is in place for after they leave, because the organization isn’t important — it’s a means to an end for their own accumulation of prestige, reputation, wealth and power.

How someone has not written an article analyzing the absolutely horrible missteps the club has made from the perspective of a business reliant on one man surprises me. This is literally a textbook business school case. This is also a textbook case of the ills of leveraged buyouts, whereas City is a textbook case of how a venture-capital funded firm can become successful against legacy firms.

When united first won the prem, i was about 18, i had a good few mates who were never into footy but became “Big Reds” once united started to dominate.
the worse kind of football fan, never mind reds. Choosing to piggy back a team knowing they will be successful. Just cretins of life.

That club is a mess and long may it continue!

Fergie is hanging around like a ghost. Every game that's on TV shows him in the crowd and no way is he just there as a 'fan'. He'll be talking to the staff, the players, the press. He is still running that club but he's not got his players there. They have to tell him to retire.

I was gobsmacked to read they'd given the ex-manager of Cardiff and Molde £400m to spend. £400m!

Their first XI isn't too bad, but they are MILES away from touching us, Liverpool or Chelsea. At the moment they are at a crossroads. My money is that they will end up an expensive Arsenal as they are flying through managers like Swales at his finest. Their squad has no style, no plan or tactical nouse. They took on Moyes who had a hard-to-beat Everton side who could pick you off. He signed players until they binned him. They brought in van Gaal who liked to pass it about so they indulged him and allowed him to sell players off for peanuts until they sacked him. Mourinho came in who didn't rate any of the players and he won them trophies. So they sacked him, but only after he'd bought and sold more players. Then Ole comes in who didn't have any club and spent £400m! And they still have no idea on who to buy, how to play!

Honestly, the more I see them the more I appreciate just how good our board is. They are, without question, the finest board in world football. Every step they've made has taken the club forward - the infrastructure, playing squad, facilities - everything is world class. They knew they had a plan and it would take time, but the difference between us and them is growing with every clown they appoint, and sack.

I put up with shit from them for years and it's great to see them seeing their club failing :)

it seems that Sad Cafe thinks whatever name they decide to offer this prestigious position too will just instantly drop everything to come running to them. Zidane? already on the plane, pooch? already telling PSG he wont be in tomorrow! Mancini well he only went to City cos he wanted to be close to Old Trafford and he will drop Italy in a heartbeat to wear a red scarf. They just dont realise that the position is not that desirable to a top manager in this present day.
