Their biggest footballing problem they have is Ronaldo. It may affect their chances of appointing a top coach.

Beyond that they lack footballing insight in their management structure but that requires only one or two appointments. They are not doomed to fail indefinitely but they are doomed to fail until they get knowledgeable football into the club in senior managerial positions. That is what Sheikh Mansour did. He appointed top business and footballing administrators and threw money at it. Man utd throw money at it but don't have the expertise to make it work.

He took the job when they jettisoned Mourinho when they were languishing off the pace in mid table. Spent over £500 million, didn’t win a thing and left the club languishing off the pace in mid table. Ship steadied.
 
They are apparently going all out for Potch, and it seems he is interested. Ho-hum, another spin on the roulette wheel to see who gets to park in their rightful place.
But it's all academic because the stench of the rotting corpse of the pisscan permeates from every corner of that rancid swamp, and Bodgers, Potch or Zidane would have to work as the spectre of the bullying despot hovers above them like some malignant poltergeist-type figure swirling about in the ether.

When you have the middle-aged prancing pony behind the scenes calling the shots (under the guidance of that revolting Govan can of piss, naturally), you are as good as being dead in the water. Essentially they have handed over control of the club to a former player who only went back to his old stamping ground for the two simple reasons - a stupendous leviathan of a pay-packet and a final chance to take his ego to the new and unchartered heights that even Beckscum had never conquered.

What the rags have become can be explained in a few short phrases: They have become a club being run by an 80 year old man with a long and troubled history of alcohol abuse, aiding and abetting a vain, egotistical narcissist from Portugal desperately hoping the two of them can turn back time and recreate the early 90's.


If only comedy writer John Sullivan hadn't died, he could have come up with a new comedic series aimed at the rags:
'Only Ghouls and Ponces.'
