A perfect summation of why they are struggling. They still believe in the magic fairy dust that turned journeymen like Cleverley into England players, that extended any game where they needed a goal by several extra minutes, and that made refs blind to their fouls in their own penalty area, but made refs see non existent fouls by their opponents at the other end. But the fairy dust has turned sour, the magic no longer works and their lack of substance has found them out.
