I didn't watch the game and the papers don't seem concerned about anything other than Maguire and de Gea, and their match-losing blunders. Was it a really poor performance, one which will have ten Hag changing his game plan? Or was it one where he'll say it was a great pity that a good, solid performance was spoiled by a few crucial errors - "but these things happen" - and nothing fundamentally wrong? Sorry to be clueless but the stuff in the media lacks a certain something. United "gave it away" is a recurring part of the analysis, which suggests that Sevilla were presented with an undeserved victory.
United were woeful and deserved their demise.
Anthony is just greedy, Sancho was his usual shit self.
De Gea was to blame for 2 goals, I wouldn't blame Maguire directly but he could have just booted the ball out.
Nobody in the united team deserve a score above 5 for their performance.

But, sods law is they will probably go out and beat Brighton so "everything is OK" again

Don't forget the 3 points that they got handed on a silver platter against us.

It still boils my piss how we lost that game, Arsenal would be feeling a lot more pressure had we not been screwed over by the officials. Upside is it deluded the rag hordes to think it was the 1990s again and they were back. Trouble is their squad is so lacking in quality is that Ten Hag has been shafting the same eleven just like Klopp does. They had a purple patch after the World Cup doing that, now with all the injuries they have the whole team is creaking at the business end of the season. Going to take a lot of money to sort that mess out and I do wonder if the Glazers have it with the outside investment they want. Lovely jubilee.

Correct and I’ve been saying this all along, including when being picked for England. The goal last night wasn’t his fault, that ball shouldn’t have been passed to him and should have been hammered up field by de Gea. Maguire had three players around him and before he knew it they were on top of him. If that would have been our team‘s scenario I would have blamed the goalkeeper the same. The same about many goals this season, he doesn’t become a poor player overnight and his confidence is shot.
I think the your post about the personal side of Maguire is spot on but the media have never learned anything from past transgressions, have they?
But he is a poor player, gets caught out of position and then wrestles his opponent and his lack of awareness for the first goal was equally his fault as he called for the ball without checking he was free. John Stones has taken the rap for him when playing for England despite being the one that makes him look ok in an England shirt .Slabhead was built up to be something he isn’t simply because the rags paid so much for him and the media tried to justify his price paid for by their media darlings

I find the scapegoating/narrative of Maguire very disturbing.

It's become a national thing, with the mainstream and social media taking it in turns to pick up the baton.

It's bullying, pure and simple.

He's made a few mistakes, but he's conveniently carrying the can for a club and a supporter base looking for anything to excuse away how shit they are.

Sancho and Anthony cost a combined £160m and have been nothing short of lamentable.

The Glazers are accused of all sorts, yet they consistently ensure United are one of the top spenders and sanctioned a record £300m splurge last summer.

Maguire is the main target on the back pages today when anyone with a brain knows De Gea was at fault for two goals.

People even cite his looks. A bunch of fucking shitbags looking for an easy pile-on, when they wouldn't fucking dare to do it to his face.

One day a player is going to be taken to the brink and then all these pricks will all clutch their pearls and ask what we can do to avoid a tragedy in the future?

Maguire is having a bad time of it, but most people will at some stage, when nothing seems to go right.

He's a dad, a husband, a son.

United and their sycophants all need to look closer to home, starting with their entitlement.
In that case he needs to walk away for the sake of his mental health. He'll already have earned enough to live on. He can't expect to carry on in the goldfish bowl that is football and expect people to shrug there shoulders and move on after seeing an inept performance. All footballer's performances get analysed and digested. From football fans to professional commentators and pundits, people will have and express their opinions, it's a part of football as you know.

It's not going to go away, I'm afraid.
Maguire isn't the first, he's not going to be the last.

I just don’t think he’s as bad as he’s been made out.
