I wouldn't go as far as saying that signing Kane would be "iidiotic"for them but there are three risk factors that would make me wary;

1) He'll be at the very top end of the tranfer fee and wage scale. That's no biggie if you can afford it although it does mean he has to produce commensurate performances. Kane should be able to hit the ground running though. Whether he can maintain that as he gets older remains to be seen.
2) The age of the player means it's a short-term solution with little or no sell-on value and, of course, he won't be looking for a short-term contract. Again, no biggie providing there's a long-term plan (which isn't their strong point).
3) Kane has always been a one-club player. I'm not convinced that leaving his roots and his comfort zone and pitching up at that circus would be conducive to maintaining his past form. I'm trying to think of another player who has done that, but can't off the top of my head.

All in all, I'd be quite comfortable if they do sign him.
Yeah but could he replace Weghorst?

First, if they are genuinely looking to sell then they aren't buying him.
To answer your question, yes. Despite the hype, their budget is limited and their debt huge. Unless they get him for 50 million they will be spunking most of their budget on one player.
They are looking to reduce their wage bill and yet Kane will be the top earner.
I am not knocking Kane, he is a proven goal scorer and he is everything they need, unfortunately for them, they need at least 4 other players in the summer to try and implement ten hags style of play.
What is ten hags style of play? That's not me being snarky or anything, I didn't watch much of Ajax so they look like a soak up the pressure and counter attack type team.

They need a midfielder, a centre back, a striker, and a goalie good with their feet? And that's just for the first 11. People might say they need more for their first 11, but i can't see them replacing fernandes, casemiro, martinez, anthony, rashford & maybe shaw i guess - the rest i think they'd swap out. Its the money they are getting back for the other players that's going to be miniscule - no one in their right mind is paying for maguire, martial, fred, mctominey etc...

Thanks for the reply, obviously i disagree.

Kane will improve them immeasurably, and they always find the money.....

Came over with a big reputation as a coach and tactician.
Tried it in the first training session, looked at the squad and reverted to hoof ball overnight

Look at there midfield casemiro and eriksen wrong side of 30
Gundog and DeBruyne are both over 30 for us. Kroos and Modric won the league and CL double last year.

With Fernandez they actually have a decent enough midfield. It's elsewhere they lack quality.

I meant they buy these players at these ages so they have to replace every couple of years. It's not building for a future same with kane they would have to replace in 2 or 3 years again for big money.

First thing they need to do is to move on the doughnut thief who's probably the worst goalkeeper in the league at distribution. They can then think about playing a passing game rather than hoof ball. Obviously give him a new contract! The talk about Kane is just noise and doesn't address their issues.

De Bruyne was 24 when we signed him and Gundogan 25.
